Re: Newbie wants a 712

I'm selling my 712M at the moment - see classified ads and lots of pictures on Milweb. Could be interested in a PEX on the cruiser too

PM me if you want to explore this?

Cheers

Re: 1st time Pinz buyer 710M or K

You'll buy a complete clutch kit for a 710/712 for around $500 and fit it yourself in a couple of hours.

Most Pinz stuff is rebuildable, tin work is expensive though if you need replacement parts...

Re: Rental Trailer for a 712

Be worth taking the pinz to a weigh bridge and check the weight fully stripped back and with minimal fuel, no tools, no spare tyre, no towing equipment and you out of the vehicle. You may be lucky and find it scrapes in under the UHaul limit - if so get a print out of the weight and you're good to go.

Re: Hafflinger Project - Isle of Man

Strange - should be able to see this as a visitor? Oh well.. I can't copy the pictures, but here's the text: Due to having too many other projects on the go I have finally admitted defeat before I even get started. I have for sale a Steyr Puch Haflinger (lwb)and spare rolling chassis (swb)and a few ...

Re: Quick Wiring Question: Radio Box behind seat

Basically - wot he said!

I wired my 12 volt dropper off the radio plug - take the cover off and its obvious what's going on inside. I modified some normal commercial electric connections to slide into the receivers on the radio socket - easy job.

Re: Winter Prep-Tire Chains

Shouldn't be any significant slack when fitted, you should be able to rachet them in tight. Good trick for keeping the tension on the chains is to thread bungy cord/shock cord diagonally across the face of the wheel/tyre - minimises the chance of spitting a chain off - its a trick lots of European o...

Re: Side Rail Replacement

Sanded mine down with a mouse sander and then treated them to 3 coats of yacht varnish - dried rock hard and looks neat. I'll post some photos when I get a chance (pitch black and raining here at the moment).

Re: What does THIS decal mean?

This old chestnut again... do a thread search - lots of comments about whether or not the Pinz is meant to be lead-free. Early vehicles had that sticker (i.e. don't use lead-free) but these are frequently covered by a second sticker saying lead free is okay. Whether the Swiss ever did anything other...

Re: Intro from Malaysia - WR7002 - C304

Is it just me, or does everyone find it a little bit scary when you start digging in to a vehicle to restore that you had been using on the road? Finding the horror stories of significant/structural rust, disintegrating brake lines, etc, etc... does make you think about the condition of your unresto...
