Have you checked to see if a VW distributor drive off an air cooled type 1 engine will work? It looks identical. I'll check to see if I have one if you want it? Very common and easy to locate if it will work.

I also belong to the Expedition Overland forum and the Midwest Overland Society Facebook page. A number of guys from our group went, had a ball, and posted lots of pictures. I've resolved that I want to go next year. You have to have a two truck/ man team. Wanna go?

Not to be a wet rag, but I just looked over your tech article and I think you installed your shocks upside down. With the reservoir on the bottom, you're adding more sprung weight and allowing stuff to accumulate on top of the seals. Let me know if I'm full of corn or not? Regardless, nice contribut...
