I will preface my comments with this statement - I spent 6 years as a research engineer for Shell Oil company in the fuels and lubricants department. 1. Additives are a waste of money 2. Synthetic fluids are not a good choice for "older" equipment 3. Use the mfg. recommended fluids and cha...

Radio antenna base removal

How do I remove my radio antenna base that is part of my canvas top? Then do I need to repair the canvas top after removal?

One of the first things I did after buying my 710M (2 weeks ago) was pull the plates, clean and POR 15 the entire area. I cleaned my drain holes with my shop vac

It was a piece of cake once I flexed the windscreen.

New question: The Pinz has the Maloya tires - should I keep them until they die or replace them? And if you suggest replacing them - I mainly drive the Pinz on-road and the occasional off-road adventure (dirt roads with some rocks).

I was not sure if you could flex the windscreen so your suggestion takes care of that. THX

I figured it out this weekend - thanks. Does anyone have a good method for stretching the canvas top over the windshield tab mounts? I was able to get the canvas over all the metal tabs except for the very left and right front corners. It is stretched over the windshield frame but just not over the ...

Canvas top installation

Greetings, I just bought a 1974 710M today. I removed the cab canvas for cleaning and now I cannot figure out the placement of the metal hooks that hold the rubber bungie. These mount under the metal strip that holds down the canvas. I think there are 5 (or 6) screws that hold down the metal strip a...

Just bought Pinzgauer

Thanks for all the help. I just bought a 1974 710M today. It just had a complete mechanical service and there is very very minor rust. It does need new wooden rub rails - should I have them made or buy?

Oddly enough it was 15 miles from my house.

Thanks Dave and Timothy - I am in Rochester NY often so getting over to Corming is a snap. I would like to track down the guy in Hudson NH - as that is quite close. There was a Haflinger in ME that sold on ebay last year for $5,400 (if I recall). I do think that a Pinzgauer 710 troop carrier is goin...

WTB

Thanks Dave,

I stated New England because it is a small enough geography that anywhere in New England is only a few hour drive - and easy for a day trip to go look at at Pinz of Haflinger

But to be specific anywhere in the Northeast is fine (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, NJ, NY, CT, RI or PA).

Thanks again

Follow- up question

Does anyone know of a Pinzgauer or Haflinger in the Northeast - even if not for sale? I would like to see a 710M troop carrier in person or Haflinger in person. I am trying to replace my MB 300GD cabriolet. I hear the Haflinger gives the "most smiles on 4-wheels" but I think I need the peo...
