Re: 718 SOCOM front springs

Maybe you could go unloaden on a scale and we give you the right bottom pin hight and the right spring.
Do you have some colour stripes on the springs?

btw: The TD Shocks are much different to the Petrol ones.
They have a damping function at the max length with a small steel spring.

Re: 716/718 with Steyr Diesel

There was one Proto at end of the 5 Cylinder TDI time in GB with the M14 and a Mercedes Gearbox. There is a small Panhard 4x4 with the same combination. But the trials with this M14 Pinzgauer were stopped when the bigger Pinzgauer II was started in developping. The M16 was planed for the Pinzgauer I...

Re: Crawler vs 1st gear

Threre are 4 different ratios in the hub gears.
The swizz army had the 2. one with normaly 58 kmh. But the swizz army haf has a longer 5. gear so it is 60 km/h.
The ratios are:
52 km/h
58 km/h
64 km/h
75 km/h

The best one for general sevice is the 64 km/h with a 5 speed gearbox.

Re: biggest tire size?

We do a lot of Trophy and Trips in Europe and Africa with Petrol Pinzgauers and the best tire size is the 255/85 R 16. BFG MT KM1 or KM 2. The Michelin 255/100 XZL is much too tall. The Michelin 8.25 XZL is a bit higher than the 255/85 but narrow and expensive but very reliable on stony drive. 255/8...

Re: Changing transfer box ratios (hear me out!)

After decades regarding the Pinzgauer Scene and also a lot of friends in Graz who drove drove 712 Pinzgauers with the 710 TCase , my experience is to leave the TCase in the 712 like it is. If you don't go serious Off Roading you can transplant a 710 T Case, but with steep uphills and high altitude y...

Re: Carb rebuild questions

The carb will run also with non splitted floats. But when going up or down steep gradients in offroad the engine will run longer with splitted floats. For example, the original Haflinger carbs 32 NDIX don't have the splitted floats - after you changed them into splitted from the Pinz, the Haflinger ...

Sorry for my bad English first. All vehicles after 1978/79 normally do have a breather at the front diff. AND!!! the hollow shaft which comes from the diffs to the wheels do have drilled a small hole. This hole make it possible that the gearbox (portal) can breath. On every vehicle (also the old bef...

@ Goudacheese Did you check the connections to the resistor under the dashbord? It's a round metal tin on the left side under the dashbord. Perhaps the connection with the 3 cable plug is corrodated or even the whole resistor is wrotten. If you hear the engine firing as long as you push the start bu...

Hi, my racingteam (teamsaurer.com) had a lot of problems racing with Pinzgauers in sand dunes in Tunesia. 2.000 km racing - 11 punctures - mostly with 1.2 bar pressure (cold), too many sand between rim and tire and the tire went turning on the rim, the tube also and the valve is ribbed of. (no chanc...
