My first mod

I have always considered the 303 to be almost the perfect vehicle. But even some things can be improved upon. My right foot and ankle got very uncomfortable from the acute angle needed to use the accelerator. Seemed difficult and clumsy to get to the brake also. Although not permanent, this fix real...

Had just lubed all the cross joints.

This noise was not out by the wheel drums.

But after you mentioned that, I may take a look at the parking brake on the rear propshaft and see if something might be going on there.

Thanks

Mystery Noise in the 303

Hi, Had a weird couple of noises come and go yesterday, here's what happened...... Went down a very long steep grade and heard what sounded like an exhaust leak. Sort of a muffled fluffing sound. Like a hole in a muffler or a really bad leaky pipe joint. But the exhaust system is all new and has no ...

I will post up the passenger side pics soon. Can't wait! On a side note, Swedish is harder to translate than German  Technical stuff especially. Have you tried Norwegian? I think it is the worst. Also when re-inserting the sub axle assy and pinching down the flange to axle seal joint DO NOT b...

Jim, Thanks for posting that. Photos are so great for technical assistance. I got a talk through from Dennis @ Linden Engineering on this too. He suggested to pinch off the brake lines to prevent losing all the fluid which should make bleeding easier. Also to engage diff lock when doing the passenge...

Dennis,

Your Leylands look similar to the GMC "Fishbowl" transit bus.

Nice resto.

Funny thing you brought that up, I have an old bus also.

A converted '63 GMC PD 4106.

As for the words "ciguenal"--you should have simply looked up a Spanish dictionary for the meaning ---ciguenal (should have an enneyeh--wavy line over the "n")--is a crankshaft. Chiflado--Spanish for "cranky" or "eccentric"--there are other words   ...

Dennis, Well, that is about the best buncha concise answers ever! Only had this truck a short time, so still learning. It has about 77,000 KM on it. Appears well maintained, a civilian rescue unit. I will check out everything you suggested. Not sure on dash pot oil. I know the choke cable is fully e...

Hard Cold Start

My Volvo doesn't like starting very easily at anything under 32 F. Even with a magnetic oil pan heater. Battery is good. The cold start device needed some adjusting and I thought that would solve it. Still struggles. It seems like a lack of fuel is the issue. Would a booster pump at the tank help or...

Finally

After 1800 miles that should have been 1500 and 3 long weeks of waiting for delivery, I got my C303 in my hands. Nicer than I had expected with 4 boxes of spares including 2 carbs. A few loose connections and burnt out bulbs, other than that it seems good to go. Went to the final shippers yard the d...

Electric Fan for 303

Is there a preferred replacement unit when converting?

I've heard the twin fan ones from high end foreign cars work well in trail trucks.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
