Re: VDO Fuel Gauge
Well, I'm at a complete loss. I added ring connectors to the two brown grounding wires and secured them to one of the threaded posts on the old gauge. When everything was connected it registered the correct fuel level but would barely move when power was cut. Double checked everything, same result. ...

Re: VDO Fuel Gauge - UPDATE
I finally found some time to take a look at the original fuel gauge. The purple wire and two black wires were secure but somehow the two brown wires became detached when I loosened the bracket for the gauge behind the dash and now I'm not sure where they connect. The gauge is original with a 1973 da...

VDO Fuel Gauge
I recently replaced my fuel tank sending unit--thanks to the forum for some great guidance. The fuel gauge is now reading properly but when I turn off the truck the needle only falls back to 1/4 or 1/3 instead of all the way to Empty. Is this normal, or should it return to Empty when off? I had hope...

Re: Diagnosing Fuel Leak - Help Please
Thank you, I did just that and it became pretty clear that it was the brass outlet from the fuel pump. It wiggled in and out easily and when I turned over the engine it starting leaking from that connection immediately. I cleaned the brass fitting, sanded the exterior lightly, and used JB Weld to gl...

Diagnosing Fuel Leak - Help Please
I'm hoping the power of the Pinzgauer hive mind can help me diagnose a fuel leak. Yesterday I was driving my 710M and noticed a strong smell of gas. When I parked, I saw a steady drip of gas coming off the undercarriage close to the center tube across from the fuel tank. There was no leaking before ...

Re: Car cover for the Pinzgauer
Car covers made for late 80's Chevy Astro vans have worked well for me. Not a perfect fit but a 95% solution.

Idle Problem
Lately, my Pinz has had trouble idling reliably and stalls unless I have the Starter pulled out an inch or more, even after warming up. I've checked each carburetor solenoid and replaced the coil, which has now exhausted my very limited skills. Any thoughts on where to check next? Thanks! Sent from ...

New LED Headlights Don't Work - Help Please
I finally picked up a set of new military LED headlights on GovPlanet. They fit perfectly and the three blade connector fit snugly into the stock Pinz connectors. Now, I wasn't sure what to do with the other wires so I simply capped them off. When I powered on the truck the lights barely emitted any...

Nothing immediately, but thought I'd search out my options for work beyond oil changes.

Pinzgauer Service - Washington Metro Area
I recently moved to Northern Virginia. Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the region familiar with air-cooled Pinzgauers?
