Re: Loose ignition key

Would love to see how far you are installing the key in the switch. So many owners don't push them on fast enough.

Re: Hand Winch

Look for "grip hoist" much better results. I have a jet brand that seems to work fine but the black rat unit gets far more use. With the number of vehicles and the circumstances around recovery I prefer the grip hoist to a vehicle mounted unit. Takes a bit more effort but has a ton more fl...

Re: Loose ignition key

There is no tumbler in the pinz ignition switch. All the detent does is retain the key. A couple of scenarios, one you are not installing the key in all the way. The switch is worn out. The key is worn out. Some folks have way too many keys or items on the key chain for the detent to hold.

I lost one on mine some time ago. Found a suitable plug and all was good to go. Later when doing some work I found the original plug on the engine, how lucky

Ok second one I have seen in just the last month

So who was KD. He made at least 2 front 2" receiver inserts. I have come across two just recently. Been in the community a while now and don't recall anyone going by those initials.

Re: Samlex DC-DC converter operation

I first ran the Samlex converters when I got into the pinz. After replacing far too many of them I went with a few of the cheap chinese knock offs. My oldest one was installed in '06 and still going strong. I chose to tie into the power box behind the passenger seat as it is switched with the trucks...

Re: Exhaust, idle musings about mods and effects

I went to a smaller diameter years ago. Only requirement that I found is the pinz preferred a restrictive muffler over a free flow. No change in performance and no adjustments needed because of muffler change

Re: Where to mount onboard air compressor?

behind drivers seat has served me well for years. mounted a tank on passenger side just in front of brake light mounting plate. Have even made a tank for one pinz that holds a bit more then my tank and placed in same location. Folks have mounted compressors in tight spots and have overheating issues.

the only reasonable answer I have heard for the Y straps is to help with canvas slapping. Not sure that it helps but it is the only answer I have heard.

Re: Stretching the wheel base?

not aware of anyone attempting this modification. You could source the spacer from the 710 backbone and then rebuild a driveshaft. body mounts would have to be changed or the extension in the body tub done where no supports exist currently. I would think this would bring on a lot of issues. My tub i...
