Re: Ugly 6x6

A Discovery is essentially a Defender with more comfortable seats & the kind of electrics that behave as if wired it. The body also blocks a lot of the access points that the Defender has so you can't get to the transmission in the same way.

4 minutes spare?

My daughter's school have produced a Christmas video and just want to beat the number of hits they had last year (1500) - it's quite entertaining, especially around the 2:40 mark so they'd appreciate it if you'd watch it:

Re: Fan alternatives?

Can I be clear? I was trying to say that one could take a cheap electric fan from another vehicle, throw the motor bit away and adapt the FAN ONLY onto the alternator pulley. No electrics needed, no extra current drawn, just a different fan! Robin, It's all semantics. You're from across ...

Re: Fan alternatives?

I know the original is probably best but they are expensive and I don't know how many spares there are. Just musing on the possibility of an aftermarket solution

Pinz isn't the only vehicle that gets muddy...

Re: Fan alternatives?

Please read my post before making smug comments. I mentioned separating the fan from the motor and adapting it to the front of the alternator. I've made a new pulley for mine anyway on the lathe so for a competent engineer it can't be too difficult

Re: Fan alternatives?

There must be loads of normal electric fans of the right diameter that could be separated from their motors and adapted to fit.

3D printer would be good, though...

Re: Pinz DOA after getting stuck.

I fitted MegaJolt solid state ignition to mine - worked amazingly well until I sucked mud into the carbs and broke them trying to fix the problem but I'd recommend MJLJ

Re: Rear wheels locked

Pleased to announce that Pinz is now moved to where it should be! Took a lot of grunting & 3 of us to push it but she's out of the way now

I have a complete Eberspacher BN4 24V for sale - it's new (well, unused anyway) and that comes with a pump!

Re: Rear wheels locked

Sounds like a good idea to me... Brace yourself for a flood of posts saying that Steyr-Puch built it right the first time and if it was needed they'd have fitted in (oh, except for the starter motor mod and the plug in the engine bay...)
