Re: High idle speed

Each Pinz owner has their own possible solution to this problem based on prior experiences. In my case I would first check your vacuum hoses, especially the main (long) one from the intake manifold to the brake booster. A worn spot, causing an air leak, would possibly give symptoms like you're seein...

Re: Engine access hatch

The polyester sounds familiar but it was a while ago. I did not use any fiberglass cloth.

SOLD !: 1973 Pinz 710M

The time has come to sell my first Pinzgauer 710M, model year 1973. Purchased in 2006 from Stauffer Classics in great condition and I’ve added many features since then. It has been well maintained and always stored indoors. At some point prior to importation the Swiss Army returned it to the factory...

Re: Engine access hatch

It was close to 10 years ago so I don't remember the exact product but it was from West Marine and was used for repairing boats. It worked very well and held up. I think it was a 2-part fiberglass resin.

Re: differential sticking

Exactly what Ron said.

By the way, it's best not to engage the lockers on paved surfaces. Loose surfaces put less strain on the drivetrain.

Re: Idle rpm

I've run my various Pinz's between 750 and 900 rpm depending on type of ignition (stock, Pertronix or PinzSSI). No problems encountered.

Re: Getting insured in CA

I just recently re-insured my Pinz, this time with Hagerty. It went very smoothly with no issues. I'm in Wisconsin so it may be different than in California.

Jim LaGuardia at Goatwerks in California. He has done a few sets for me and they have always come back perfect.

Re: Exhaust Pipe Flex

SAV used to sell the body sealant tape and I recall it was closer to 1/16" thick but was firmer and less compressible.

Re: shifter linkage retaining ring

Hi Ron, I dug through my old parts but can only find the clips that came with the S-Tec kit sold by SAV - the ones that won't stay on. I think I bought some clips that worked from McMaster similar to these: https://www.mcmaster.com/products/retaining-rings/system-of-measurement~metric/low-clearance-...
