Gear reduction, the circlip that held the gear came / broke off and you saw the result.
The gear was not exactly the same configuration as the original. That is why I think it was worn. The starter was fairly new.

Re: 10 mm Bolts to Remove Brake Drum
Sorry, getting stuck isn't a novelty and so I didn't take pictures of the truck, only the broken drum.

Six hrs beating om it, The bolts pushed the drum about 3 inches ( ardently beating on it) then the threads stripped out of the drum. When it came a 2"x1" piece of the drum broke off on the outer edge where the pads make contact. There was a half gallon of hardened silt inside . Sheesh Whe...

Re: 10 mm Bolts to Remove Brake Drum
Thanks for the reply s.
I buried the truck in the mud as two tires went flat, and couldn't get it pulled out for a week. Two drums are rusted to the brakes. I managed to beat one off and, after letting it soak in kroll for a week the second one still won't come off.

Unless you are on one of the few paved roads in the training areas on Ft.Hood it's all low water crossings.

Re: Army 4x4 washed away in Texas flood waters
When I was at Ft. Hood we were crossing Cowhouse creek when it was high. A m113 with a vulcan 20mm mounted got washed down stream and flipped over, killing all 4 crew members. This type of accident has happened numerous times at Ft. Hood

Re: Pinzi SSI
Best mod you can do for the money, easy to install and great customer support.
I failed to tighten the screws on the cap on the module and lost it. I was promptly sent another one gratis.
I also had a grounding issue and was told how to fix it by phone and e mail in a timely manner. Thanks Rick !

Re: Something to think about it
I've been the passenger in three jeeps that have rolled over. And seat belts saved my ass every time, one at 60 mph. And now the "B" Pinz. Low speed tumpover, the only damage was to the front windshield. [url=https://flic.kr/p/o5Fgrc][img]https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3914/14492776169_f47...

Besides, China just called and they want your old cover to melt down into Harbor Freight tools...
It appears to me that SAV lowered their prices on them since I looked last week.
I'm replacing it.

Hairline Crack in Valve Cover
The #3 valve cover has a very small 2" crack near the fixing stud that holds the valve cover on.
My question is weld it, or replace the valve cover ?. I'm assuming it's aluminum.
