Running out of oil in the sump?

I really appreciate being able to ask what I suspect are silly questions. As a hobbiest, once the Internet has been exhausted, it's great to be able to throw out questions. I've transplanted a landrover 300tdi, auto box into my tgb13. All is well. I've plumbed in a new radiator, intercooler and oil ...

Re: RHD steering parts

If you do go down this route I've always thought if would be goo idea to put a grease nipple on the top. I drilled an old one and could not see why it could not be done. Not brave enough to do it on a brand new one though

Re: Brake breather - Pointless?

Ok, worked out that the portal breaths through the axle as there is no tight seal between them. Another question for those that have done it before. My front brake pads had 2 return springs installed. The manual only shows 1. Given the second appears to be a faf to install. I have left it off. Is th...

Re: Brake breather - Pointless?

Before I'd taken the drum off I had assumed the pipe somehow connected into the portal box. Given it does not, is the portal meant to have a breather?

Ah. Ok yes the drum seal is perished and all sorts of crap in with the pads.

Nice idea to seal the brakes but 40 years on........

Brake breather - Pointless?

Still not worked out how to publish pics here but follow the link http://www.pearman.cc/blog/uncategorized/c303-front-brake-overhaul/ does anyone know why there is what looks to be a breather that goes from inside the brake drum to the outside? I've removed the rubber pipe from the metal tube but th...

Re: CV Boot Question

Ok thanks

Axle body is fine. Crud was just wheel carrier side. I'll wipe out what I can, fit the new boot then change the oil in the hub

Re: CV Boot Question

Yes emulsion is a good word for it. The breather is totally blocked and i'd swear that when i unbolted the brake line bracket it spurted like it was pressurised inside. Does that bolt go all the way through?

Am I OK to spray some degreaser in there to clean it up?

will do the oil change too

Thanks for the replies. Got it off now. Hydraulic ball joint separator. This steering setup is costing me a fortune in tools.

Removing steering ball joints

Hi all Does anyone have any experience in removing the ball joints from the aux steering arm? I've got a bearing separator wrapped round it and a 10 ton puller trying to pull them apart with no success. The nut is off and the puller has been left in place with plus gas soaking overnight to see if it...
