Handbrake assembly rebuild (in cab not brake itself)
Hi All, I am replacing the handbrake cable and have had a problem with the handbrake not staying on, it has to be pulled hard, then twisted vertical where it will sit for a moment or two, then spring off. Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the locking mechanism of the handbrake itself? It all c...

Starter motor drive worn - opinion/advice?
Hi All, I have starter engagement probs, the engine catches about one in ten tries. I took the starter off and although the ring gear does have some wear, the drive looks worse. Can you please have a look at the photo and give me your comments, advice etc? Also, can the solenoid throw be adjusted? I...

Thanks Ed, just tested mine, 0L all round, so it looks like a problem with it. Back to the supplier it will go .......edzz wrote:Checked my spare with a fluke 77, red to red and black to black 3M ohm, next red to black and red to black OL. Don’t know what that tells us, haven’t dissected one yet.

Re: Misfire under acceleration
Thanks for your answers guy, I have done a full tune up, clearances, timing, new flex exhaust manifold, carb set up and balance, and it is heaps better, but still hesitates under initial acceleration, and the engine appears rough and vibrates as if out of sync, then it smoothes out as the revs climb...

Misfire under acceleration
Hi All, I have a problem with my 1979 710... When revving the engine there is a misfire. Its a popping type noise, and the engine is obviously running rough, as it shudders on the mounts. To set the scene, I have changed the oil and filter, rebuilt the dizzy, cleaned the carbs, re sealed the exhaust...

Re: Swiss License Plates
Hi Kevin, Swiss license plates are not available because they are personal and stay with the driver, not the vehicle. Over here you have the possibility to have several vehicles registered with one set of plates. Its all quite clever, you can't get plates without insurance, and you can't cancel your...

Re: 710M 1979 misfire
Thanks for your replies guys. The vehicle was bought 'as is' so I don't really know the history and I am working my way through it. The cap appears ok, as does the arm and points, but I haven't yet gapped them or changed the points, or the plugs to be honest. Carb wise I have no idea when they were ...

710M 1979 misfire
Hi All, I have a misfire on my 710 that is intermittent. Its noticeable on starting when revving the engine, but then is on and off even when the engine is warm. I have checked the obvious things such as HT leads and the like, and there doesn't seem to be anything glaringly obvious. Can anyone give ...

IIRC, the ground is a brown wire, and it bolts to the chassis near the blinker module below the left side of the dash. Perhaps the schiz from edzz will confirm this for you.
Thanks, there is one floating around without a home there..........

Bad earth connections Pinz 710 M
Hi All, I have a bit of an elec problem that I think is a bad earth. When I put the headlights on pos 2 I cannot get the indicators to work, and in pos 1 when I turn on the indicators the dashboard lights flash on and off in time with them. I also don't have any main beam (brights) but I am not sure...

710M light switch positions-what does what?
Hi All, I have just acquired a 710 and am getting it ready for the technical inspection, but I can't seem to figure out how the light switch works. I know you have tag, 1 and 2, and then sliding the lever out of the way gives you access to s1 to 3, but what does each position do, and how does it wor...
