Re: front wheel hub steps

The Land Rover style of wheel steps which bolt onto the wheel studs are much more comfortable on the feet. They are much larger in diameter and more easily attach to the wheel.

Re: 1972 Steyr Puch Haflinger 500

I think you are getting mixed up with the Steyr Puch car which had a 500 cc engine. All Haflingers had a 643cc version of the 500cc engine from the factory with model designations of 700 for the short wheel base and 703 for the longwheel base - to the 700/703 you may see variations such as AP and AP...

Re: Not much safety in a Haflinger

I hope you and your Haflinger recover well. Sounds like you hit the brakes and one locked up at the rear sending you sideways and the roll over. That is one of the things on my list to fix - one of my rear brakes locks and tries to send the vehicle into a slide if it is not corrected quickly. I agre...

Hmmm that is one Ugly vehicle that only a Muther could love - that front end is overdone on the retro bit - too wide.

What is wrong with that? Our public Government buses carry passengers bike the same way.

Re: Power Steering Conversion

Thanks for that write up - extremely comprehensive :D

I have saved this thread in my favourites and I will try to get to a local importer of American cars to see how it is fitted to the Corvette.

I very much appreciate the effort you have gone too.

Re: Power Steering Conversion

Thanks but I do not know what exactly is needed - that is why I was hoping there might have been a "how to" link somewhere.

Cheers

Re: Power Steering Conversion

Thanks - much appreciated - the Corvette is a rare car here but their are aftermarket parts suppliers for the cars that are here so I might have a chat to them about their steering assist. Our home grown cars of the late 60s had a ram style power steering but they are considered not good enough with...

Re: Power Steering Conversion

I am looking at the Landrover 101 - has a similar steering layout as the Volvo. From your pics it looks as if you have some sort of ram unit with the original steering box still in place. Current power steering options for my vehicle normally removes the steering box and column and replacing it with...

Re: Petronix question

Petronix is very sensitive to the resistance of the coil - the module will burn out. So you need to check the resistance of the coil and any resistors used as a circuit - not individually - make sure this combined resistance is within specs for the unit. On my haflinger I had a wasted spark coil and...
