Hi all,
My rear brake lights stopped working. My flashers and turn signals work so I tested for voltage when brake peddle was pressed and nothing. I guesed that the issue was the brake light switch and bought one from sav.

Question: where is the switch?

It turns out my ignition system gave up the ghost. I got a solid state system from Pinzssi and my pinz has never ran so well! No need for a choke at start up and very smooth/responsive acceleration.

Thanks for replying. I did get a fuel smell but not overwhelming. The starter motor is turning the engine. Would the key position still be an issue?

Fuel filter does not stay full. There's generally an air pocket at the top. Have you taken the fuel line off the carbs and cranked the engine to confirm it pumps? Napa or VW sell a fuel pump that will suffice for a time as a replacement till you can get a kit to repair your pump...or just get the rebuild kit if your pump is bad. Keep the Napa pump as a spare.
