Re: A slight modification...
Front half of another Haf welded on the front of a short wheel base rear half. Probably using two short wheel base torque tubes.
Might be alright on the road, but off road - not enough power and too narrow!

Re: Off-roading Performance -- a comparative technique
Query on your data table:- The Mini apparently has 12 inch tyres and Haflinger has 24 inch? Neither are true of rim size, Possible true for the Haf as wheel diameter, but definitely nor true of the Mini wheel diameter. Does correcting this erro make any difference to the position of the Mini in your...

Re: Additional support for OEM canvas?
How about using canvas / webbing straps running front to back and even crossways if you still have wallow puddles. Have you tried getting some of these types of things ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8x-Tarpaulin-clips-Ball-Bungees-Tents-Bivvis-Awnings-Ground-Sheet-Tarps-/112602920810?hash=item1a37a8376...

Re: Front diff harmonics
I think it is far more likely to be a slightly bent drive shaft due to slightly worn fulcrum pins. That will load a bearing on one side and cause a bit of noise which then because the shaft can go up and down, the loading will change. Lurch does the same thing, so I would guess it is quite common. J...

Re: Sluggish braking
Brake pedal has very little play, and I have to STAND on it to stop. Capital letters for emphasis. I also learned that the pedal is not traveling far enough to turn on the brake lights, or there is an issue with brake lights... No brake lights now . I'll look at the pedal assembly this weekend. Won...

It's moving along nicely, if you didn't keep losing bits and having to re-make them!

Re: Sluggish braking
Most Haflingers are single circuit brakes.... The manual does show a dual circuit brake system which I though was for the "Utility" versions which carried addition loads as standard, but might also have been a "Pathfinder" American concession. If there is very long pedal travel b...

Re: Sluggish braking
Get a length of fencing wire, make a ring round one set of brake shoes to stop the brake shoes / pistons being forced out but allowing enough gap for them to move and get some one to press the brake pedal to make sure the wheel pistons move. They are prone to sticking in the bores.

Shouldn't you finish Volvo No:1 first? This looks like a lot of work even if all you are going to do is the cab!

Not easy to find an original solenoid now-a-days. Plenty of useable replacements if that the way you want to go.

Re: Dynastarter issue
You hit it on the head! Your solenoid is suffering from two problems. First one is the the POWER contacts which actually make the circuit to the Dynastart are carboned up and do not make good contact. Sometimes when it hits home, the arc is enough to burn through the carbon layer and make good conta...
