Re: Pesky brake springs

Have you tried going the other way round? I.e. put the little brake spring in the brake shoe, then use a pair of needle nose pliers to hold the end that goes into the backing plate. You can use a wire loop to do the same job. Pull the brake spring up to the point where you can use a screwdrive to pu...

Re: Not much safety in a Haflinger

I think I am going to look into putting a heavier duty roll bar on mine and 4 point seat belts. Although it has four seats I have yet to take any one else in the back two seats - partly because they arn't finished, but they are not finished because I don't have a reason to carry people in them! I am...

Re: How do you remove the fan from the dynastarter? Anyone have a spare?

The simple answer is with some difficulty... Actually, if you have suitable tools, it shouldn't be too bad to remove. It is basically just pushed on to the shaft which is a taper with a Key way so Undo the nut whilst the Dynastart is still on the Haflinger as that will hold it nice and steady whilst...

Re: purchased a Pathfinder that came with tubs o' parts

If it weren't for the cost of the shipping, I would be after the Flywheel, clutch plate and clutch pressure plate, maybe the Dyanstart as well depending on the cost.

Re: repairing a choke cable

I am not sure that ordinary solder / plumbers solder will have enough mechanical strength - might work a couple of times, but it will fail very soon after you have done the repair. Silver solder has higher mechanical strength, but requires higher temperature to melt. Best repair would be to take cab...

Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

If the rings and bore are okay, then probably you have a fault in the cylinder head. A crack or a valve(s) not sealing properly. Check by filling the combustion chamber with petrol and see if you are getting any petrol on the other side of things. I.e. in the inlet or exhaust tracts. Also for crack ...

Shame!

Still, gives you time to get your health in as good a shape as possible for when you can drive it.

The truck looks amazing. Near to the point where you can drive it.... After all this time, you are going to wonder if you have finished everything and when you can actually call it finished!

Re: UPDATES on the forum

Have similar problems on my website. Busy waiting for the hosting company to update the software on their backend so I can update the software facing the public.

Oh, the trials and tribulations we go through for others...... :D

Re: EFI on a haffie?

Everybody would like someone to do it first, rather than be the first to do it. I think it would be a good idea if you could get it to work correctly without a lot of either mechanical issues (e.g. manifold flange adapter plate), or software tuning issues. Getting the mixture right might involve qui...

Weird that they have shiny chrome bumpers - I thought military didn't have sparkly bits as they give away their position.
