Re: Sacrilege? Lowered ride height?

I recently had to get the Pinz in the garage for replacing the axle seals. I just deflated the tires to about 10 psi and drove in. Once in the garage, I inflated them to 20. No hassle and only took a few minutes.

Re: Rear axle leak

Thanks everyone for the advise. Just circling back after completing r/r of both sides of the rear axles. It was not too difficult. I separated the axles halves by using cable tensioners turnbuckles from Orchard Supply. The ends fit two groves built into the rear case. Sliding the axles back in is ea...

Re: Rear axle leak

Good to know the axle housing is heavy. I don't have a hoist but I'll try using a transmission jack. I need to find some jack stands which are high enough for the Pinz. I need to build the tool you have in the post.

Rear axle leak

I noticed a large leak on the ground under the rear axle. The boot is full of fluid so I image the seal has fail on the output shaft. I found this forum post going over the remove of the axle. http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4578&v Is this the list of parts needed t...

Re: Hub fill and drain plugs

So it looks like your about 30 miles from Expedition Imports http://www.expedition-imports.com/ in Vallejo, CA. Scott should be able to help you out with any parts and manuals you need. EI is a valued resource and a forum supporter. :D I recently bought a clutch master rebuild kit from EI. I'm clos...

Re: Hub fill and drain plugs

you need a maintenance manual. If one did not come in the glove box or the tools, it would be good to order one. don't take out the bottom plug until you take out the top one to verify the level of the hub oil. LOL I've learned my lesson on that tip the hard way on a VW transmission. Hopefully I fi...

Hub fill and drain plugs

I'm fairly new to Pinz maintenance since I adopted the company Pinz. I'm looking to change the fliud in the hubs but I can't find information on where the plugs are for draining and filling the hubs. Anyone have pictures on the plug locations? It's a '72 710M.
