Re: Here we go again
Intermittent go, no go is always electrical. Look for a bad contact that is dirty, corroded or loose. Check and clean every contact and for future reliability coat them after reassembly with dielectric grease or Fluid Film to keep moisture out. There will be no substitute for time and patience. Keep...

Re: Overdrive parts available soon
There has been a delay as my machinist friend had to relocate the shop mid project. The dust has settle and I hope to have him making more parts this weekend.

Re: need suggestions for removing door lock cylinder
My locks were not overly tight and a small pair of channel lock pliers and patience did most of the work. If I remember correctly a 27mm open ended wrench got things started.
Good luck

Re: Officially shopping for a Volvo C303
The Long Island one is a gem! When you can find a great condition truck grab it! Fast! I bought a similar condition Pinz 5 years ago and have had no problems and it gets used regularly, most recently a 1,700 km trip in Oct. Just do your maintenance. Paying a little more for no rust and no creative w...

Re: I may have a 4x4 "problem", she says.
Even my daughter, 22 years old, but also a LR owner, and who helped restore my 63 LR beginning at age 7, saw the photos at two trucks. She did not however need to read the explanation to see the sounds system in the first photo. While this does help to rule out the "problem" as a guy thing...

Re: I may have a 4x4 "problem", she says.
At first I thought it might be someone's franken-restoration. Second glance was a Bollinger electric 4x4 in the shop. Then I stopped to read and it appeared. I think you have found a clever optical illusion which like all explained illusions becomes a disappointment. It's not a problem. It's a...

I don't see it mentioned. Did you make sure the clutch fluid is topped up and that there is no air in the system?

Re: My locks are corroded, no keys
The door locks are a straight forward multi-tumbler design. You can easily remove them by removing the large retaining nut. Most of the mechanism is brass and should clean up pretty well with penetrating oil and a small tooth brush. Once cleaned, a good locksmith can finish the cleaning, check and l...

Re: Overdrive parts available soon
Just an update on the OD parts. The young machinist has changed shops (He has been hired by Arcelor Mittal Dofasco to their Hamilton, Ont. shop) and is also setting up his own private shop. This has caused some delays but the new rear transmission plate has been cut and looks great. I haven't rushed...

Re: Biodiesel in the 2.4TD
Just to add 2 cents... I did quite a bit of research on bio-diesel at one time for my 63 LR. I know an ex-Rover factory trained diesel mechanic who rebuilt my high pressure pump when I resurrected my old truck. I asked his opinion. He just smiled and said that with diesel additive he had seen trucks...

Re: Stock Pinz exhaust questions
I recently bought a older (1970s) copy of Audel's Automotive Guide and started on page 1. (available from Abebooks) This is a great book to fill in knowledge gaps on older systems, their carb section is amazing! I can't find the exact quote right now but the gist of what I read is that the popping o...
