Re: POLY CV Boots

I'd put on poly boots don't even try the NOS. The NOS ones I put on looked perfect upon installation but after one year of driving the seams of the boots turned to mush and tore.

Changing boots is not that tough, bleeding brakes is the worst part by far!

Re: POLY CV Boots

I just had my second set of NOS boots fail so I ordered some poly boots from http://fmv4x4.com They were a bit hard to communicate with (didn't send email when shipped, I had to send several emails to get a response) however the parts arrived in a timely manner ~2wks and the boots worked perfectly! ...

Re: Backfired and Died

Nice! Where did you find that pic? I see it's got a logo on the bottom right?

BTW: Officially named my Volvo "Hotbox" a nod to it's firefighting heritage, boxy shape and lack of AC. Logos coming...

Re: Backfired and Died

Hey Guys- Just wanted to follow up on this thread... Three things got me: * bad timing, very bad, terrible! * bad points, worthless! * sporadic vacuum leak on my carbs So timing is now all set, points are all set and I switched from Strombergs to SU's. Things are running very well now. Did a 7 day t...

Re: Backfired and Died

Thanks Paul. I checked the distributor and it seems to be in order. I should read up on timing with a Volvo.

Backfired and Died

Had an great 150 mile trip out in the Cascade range. This morning it was running really rough at 1k rpm, higher rpms were better. Small backfires here and there. The trip home was tough because if I had to stop it would had a hard time getting going had to feather the gas. One mile from home the C30...

How to Reset Brake Light?

Fixing the front boot meant I had to detach the brake lines so the "uneven brake pressure" switch (or whatever exactly it is) triggered so my light is on. I read about it here: "To set the valve back you have to screw out the contact switch from the valve an screw it in again to make ...

Mt. Hood Camping

We've had some really warm and sunny weather in Portland, Oregon and I've been taking advantage of it in the C303. Did some mountain biking on Sandy Ridge then went exploring on the Western side of Mt. Hood via Lolo Pass. Found this camp spot with a huge view of Mt. Hood. (attached). Getting up to t...

Re: Brake Lights Not Working

Ah thanks for the details on the electric system! It is pretty neat how they wired this thing together. Upon closer inspection it was indeed the fuse. The contacts points were so corroded that it was making occasional contact. I now have a functional "third eye" which makes braking way mor...
