I pulled my plugs off my 712 and all of them had copper sleeves around the threads. Are these stock? Should they have remained in the heads? Did someone repair the threads? The plugs were number W7DC. Help !!
Thanks

Single un-used 712 rubber rub rail FS
Looks to be a CWR 712 rubber extruded rub-rail for sale. 1 piece only. I'm not sure of brand. It's the one that is shaped just like the wood originals. No hardware included. It has never been mounted, it came with my truck and I have gone with another solution. $100, located SF Bay area. Will ship a...

Re: Re-winding Alternator
At Idle, it will produce less current than stock. It's a tradeoff. If you are crawling for extended periods, maybe it's not for you. My air conditioning (32K BTU) draws 20amps, so I felt it would be a good upgrade over the 35 amp stock windings. I ran 6 gauge welding cable past the molex, directly t...

Re-winding Alternator
Concerning the subject of re-wiring the stator to increase alternator output. I found a local shop (to me), that rewound the stator with larger diameter wires and rebuilt the rest, even using Bosch paint. Output tests at 70amps at 2200 shaft rpm. I have no affiliation, just wanted to pass along the ...

Re: Spare Tre Hangar - Reverse wheel position
Thanks all. The tongue was necessary because the "studs" are actually bolts not studs, so the wheel can be lifted and just sit there while one bolts it up with the special security driver socket. I have hurt my back several times trying the "thread the needle" while holding up a ...

DSCN0464.JPG DSCN0465.JPG DSCN0466.JPG Here is another way of doing it. Not better or worse, just different. Studs are security type with a matching driver head to prevent theft. Unit is bright red for visibility while changing tire on highway (besides, I had a batch red to go to powder-coat and I'...

Re: Overdrive (again)
Thank you all for the kind words. These are the projects I love to develop on my off ours. As to the ability of the Pinz to utilize this OD unit, I had the hand throttle set and maintained 60 mph for over 15 minutes. Dead flat, no headwind. I'll continue to test and report. I'll workup some costs fo...

Re: Overdrive (again)
Jim, You can split gears providing you keep the rpm's high enough to maintain the hydraulic pressure to keep the unit engaged. I'm, playing with that now; determining minimum rpm's vs. gears vs. loads. It doesn't seem to be consistent. When I get a better switch in place (on the stick-shift), I'll p...

Re: Overdrive (again)
The OD units can be had for $500-$1000, rebuilt. The Lobro joints and spline was about $500 total. I made the adapter myself, with about 100 hrs of development and research. ( I like the challenge of doing things people tell you can't be done) If there is interest, I can can make small runs of 5-10 ...

Re: Overdrive (again)
OK, just got back from a 100+ mile test drive with the OD unit. Temperature was 85 degrees plus, climbed over 1000' pass and on the way back I had some stop and go traffic. All I can say is, I would never drive the Pinz again without it! On the highway, I can cruise at 56mph at 3K rpm........all day...
