1973 712M Highly Modified for sale
I am preparing to sell my Pinz. I have a few minor issues to settle but I wanted to let everyone know. You can see the modifications I have done under my postings. I will get a comprehensive list (exhaustive) together soon of all the additions and modifications. I would prefer to sell to someone who...

Re: Overdrive parts available soon
I had hoped someone would go with this project especially with all the CAD data.
The only tricky part is the adapter spline from the tranny to the OD. It requires a Laycock input collar wire EDM'ed to the Pinz output spline.
Any CNC milling shop could make the other components.

Re: Winch Question
That sounds like what I am running. With synthetic line, it's under 90 lbs total. Mine was off an MRAP military vehicle. It has the over-current control on as well. It is a fantastic winch. Bullet-proof.

Re: Double belt pulley
I cut one of the pulleys off the HUMVEE setup and welded it to the front of the stock pulley and had it balanced. Any similar diameter pulley would do. See my write up on AC install. Good luck. I use mine all the time.

Re: Overdrive (again)
It's been working perfectly. I used to have a button on the dash that illuminated when activated but I got tired of reaching forward to turn it on and off. So i installed a simple remote controlled relay to activated it. It's a transmitter (they use a car alarm key fob), stuck to the steering wheel....

Solid Starter Mounts Available for gear reduction starters
I designed and made up a small run of these solid mounts. There have been instances of damage caused by the new higher torque starters shifting old or worn rubber starter mounts. In my case, it ruined my ring gear. I'm not sure why the designers ever came up with a "soft" mount. I suspect ...

Re: "Banging" sound when starting?
I seem to be having a similar problem. I removed the flywheel to replace an aging rear main seal and noticed me (new) E.I starter gear badly worn. So I inspected the ring gear (photo attached) and it appears to have freshly worn teeth. As much as I have been working on this truck, I doubt I have 100...

Basic Stock Brake Performance Question
Folks, I have a general question regarding braking performance of the stock brakes on a 712. I am planning to re-locate the Pinz to our house in Nevada for use in the Sierra and Pinenut mountains. I’m wondering about the Pinz’s performance on long highway descents. I know the deficiencies of the dru...

Deep Snow
I'm appealing to those with experience with their Pinzies (712M) in deep snow. I'm starting to noodle a new bumper design for effectiveness in deep snow. It's common for us to have 2-3 feet on the road with days before the plow gets to our house. In deep snow, is it preferable to "ski" up ...

Re: Toolless Upper Door Removal
The doors have M8 weld nuts for the 2 main bolts, so you would need to use M8 studs. Just cut the forward studs to about 1/4" total.
Cut the sheet-metal out around the door handles so they stay with the bottom half when you remove the tops.
