Re: Fuel Pump Safety Cut-Out Controller for 24vdc
A few years back I purchased one of these and began a dialog with David Heath, owner of Revolution Electronics. I dug back through my email heap and found the following. I haven't taken the steps to make the install, but I did find a small 24-12V DC-DC converter on ebay that is waterproof and should...

Austrian spec shift linkage
Thilo just received two Austrian spec 712M's, one with power steering installed. I drove that truck last Friday and am definitely on his upgrade list for the steering. It's wonderful! What really blew me away, though, was the shifter/linkage. My Swiss 710M shifts in a rather vague "the gear is ...

Re: Wheel stud replacement
Google "m14x1.5 wheel studs" and it will belch forth a host of options. You might want to purchase an original and make a few measurements to be sure the knurl is the correct size. http://www.pinzgauer.com/showdetails.ph ... 101343241/

Re: Are VDO gas gauges made by Lucas?
Unless you match the gauge to the sender the results will be all over the place. Looking at the VDO site, they list a number of senders with resistance values of 10-65 ohms, 10-184 ohms, 73-10 ohms (backwards), 240-33 ohms, 0-90 ohms & 3-180 ohms. They list a host of gauges specific to those res...

Re: V/A meter
I wonder if the meter is smart enough to calculate "negative" power as you would get if you placed the shunt in the circuit directly off the battery? While charging the meter would read (+) current, but when the draw exceeds the alternator's capacity the meter will read (-) current (or whe...

Too much time on their hands - and a pile of cash!
If it were me, I'd spend the cash on a Tatra T815 10x10.

Throttle linkage failure
Went out this morning to start the 710M for a little offroad excursion with the kids who've flown in from Ca. for Christmas. "SNAP!" when I pressed on the throttle pedal. No throttle pedal connection to the carbs! Upon removing the engine cover I discovered that one of the linkage ball joi...

Re: If a 712 had a father.....
Those six 68" tall tires probably account for 3000 lb of the 11,000 lb curb weight. For a true "Father of Pinz" it should have been built on a Tatra T813/T815 chassis design principle, but it's cool nonetheless

Re: Will MT-90 help cold weather shifting?
What a difference! Everything about the shift performance of this trans is improved. It now glides into gear where previously it needed to be coaxed. Liquid magic :) I purchased mine via ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360964061493?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT $43.89 ...

Will MT-90 help cold weather shifting?
My 710M's transmission is filled with the factory specified SAE 90 gear oil - Thilo (from whom I purchased my truck) is very specific about using only the "correct" lubricants. It is getting into the low 20's and teens here and the transmission is very hard to shift when cold. It feels lik...

Re: 1973 710M drum diameter and width
Good idea?? I would expect hub bearings to disintegrate promptly, especially the inner needle bearings. The cantilevered load these things add is something not accounted for in the design of a stock Pinz. JMHO...
