Re: Cab lighting and solar panel

The seats are the Corbeau Moabs. They were mounted on the stock rails so they are really easy in and out without any modification to the truck. Mark mounted them awesome. I'm 6'1" and I can see out the front window without feeling too high at all. http://corbeau.com/products/reclining_seats/mo...

Re: Rear axle gets hot - right side leaks oil

Thanks for the hint GRCmaron. I'll check and will report back on the oil fill levels. Reg. the seal between parking brake / differential: Can you tell me more? (I remember before I had my breaking lines re-done there was a mention of oil dripping from the rear differential onto the parking brake. Bu...

Re: Big white smoke , all RPMs.... Advice?

Thanks for all the replies; and insights! I'll see to get the pictures of the cylinders from the engine shop LJ's machine napa I understood it was the 2.7L upgrade kit from Expedition Import . They're Ross Racing pistons. I don't have experience with the Kit, but I would think the cylinders that cam...

Re: Rear right axle - leaks oil / gets hot

You're totally right. It's BOTH sides that get hot; only the right side that drips oil (...editing my post as we speak for clarity)

Thanks for input, will check oil levels, and e-brake :)

Rear axle gets hot - right side leaks oil

My rear axle is dripping oil. I found oil drips around the rear axle on the right side (rear rear on a 712K) [AND the rear axle] was quite hot (after I drove it 20min total). See pictures; the left side is dry (except for my oily finger prints); the right side is quite wet. Any ideas, leads? The oil...

Re: Big white smoke , all RPMs.... Advice?

ok, riddle solved. Two of the 4 pistons were bad (see pict). New ones are in the making. Question to the community: I wonder how this could have happened? The car's engine was completely rebuilt; and not driven past 500 miles after that (over 3 years). According to the tech shop, some dirt got to th...

Re: Should I build back to Zenith from Weber carburator?

Thanks to all the replies. Context for my question: - The car had some engine issues (the piston 3&4 went bad after car was sitting for long time after a rebuild). It's getting fixed now. But meanwhile I was wondering if the Weber carbs were an additional 'wild card' that I would want to elimina...

Should I build back to Zenith from Weber carburator?

I recently purchased a Pinz 712M that had a complete engine rebuild, upgraded from 2.5L to 2.7L and 2 Weber carburetors 36DC NVA 18 (instead of the Zenith). I'm not sure, if that's a good thing to have Webers on the Pinz; so I'm on the fence what I should do: a- build this back to the Zenith Carbure...

Re: Big white smoke , all RPMs.... Advice?

@Mopar: Yes, it's that truck. It's actually in really great condition; everything new and rebuilt. The 712M didn't move much since rebuild, perhaps 500 miles in total over last 2 years. I guess, some seals hardened?

Re: Big white smoke , all RPMs (at idle = less) - Advice?

Update / additional info: - Carburetors on the Pinz are Weber, 36DC NVA 18. (This was an upgrade by previous owner. Not sure if this makes a difference, or only introduces complexity in looking for the problem) - The Airbox is clean - I opened the Cylinder head covers: My observation shows O-rings o...

Re: Big white smoke , all RPMs (at idle = less) - Advice?

[ Pasting previous replies from other thread here: ] undysworld: When oil is sucked up into the intake, it reaches the rear carb first, so I suspect that's what's happening and why you see it in the 3&4 cyl's only - it hasn't reached the front carb yet. I suspect that if you remove the airbox, i...

Big white smoke , all RPMs.... Advice?

[Note: re-posting as it's own thread; to keep the conversation clean : ) ] I might be in a similar situation to the post 'Big smoke, big oil mess, big problem! Advice/confirmation.. Context: - I bought a 712m after it's engine was rebuilt 3 years ago; it had perhaps 500 miles since then - Drove it 2...

Re: Big smoke, big oil mess, big problem! Advice/confirmati

Thanks Undysworld, I'll check the air intakes - and will update my findings here :) Perhaps a new thread to update? Kinda a highjack when someone posts about an issue they are having and another, perhaps similar or different issue, interrupts the OP and muddies the water. Just saying . Sent from my...
