Re: Fuel Tank Drain Plugs
Had the same issue - tank half-full of very stale fuel which I wanted to drain completely, & after trying various approaches with products & force, eventually resorted to lengthy application of heat from a hot-air gun (I know...not ideal) followed by a well-placed hammer blow. Came free easi...
Re: Pinzi SSI
Rick...touché.... Fair enough, I didn't return the module. There was a lot of confused information in our communication, (return the module, return the module and the coil, No, just the module, the coil as well...) & at no time was there any mention of reprogramming or updating firmware. You adm...
Re: Pinzi SSI
Pinz SSI Module Failure. I'm interested to learn of any other users of the (acclaimed...) Pinz SSI who have suffered module failure. I was probably an "early adopter" with one of the earlier systems. Now I've been advised that there is zero availability of spare parts for the system leavin...

Re: Oil breather hose size
I really struggled to get 12mm hose onto the stubs. Ended up using 18x13mm, which fitted just fine. Measure the stubs if in doubt...
(My supplier sent me the wrong hose - the 12mm i/d size - twice, saying it was 13mm... So now I have 6metres of slightly-too-small hose...did get a full refund tho'!)

Dreadnought, For sure, their road speed is not great. I've been unlucky enough to get behind one on a narrow mountain road south of here...20 minutes before the guy checked his mirrors and "slowed down" to let me pass. Around where I am there are plenty of Gaz 66, Zil 157 and 131, and a fe...

Re: Pinzi SSI
I've also joined the band of converts to PinzSSI. Installation is a breeze, setting the timing was (for me) a "right-first-time" effort. As I've also rebuilt the carbs, and the motor's not been run in months, I cranked for a bit to get oil pressure and gas into the carbs before I fitted th...

Optimistically priced 712M in Bulgaria
This 712M just on the market here in Bulgaria. In the last day they decided to change the price from the Bulgarian Lev to Euro, effectively doubling the price!

Re: rub rails
Got some rails run off to replace my rotted-out originals. Done in the original beech (at least, mine were beech) tho' unfortunately only 2 metre lengths available in the best quality, so they'll be 2-piece. My thinking is that I can replace half a rail if (when!) damaged... Got 100m (enough for 12 ...

Re: Replacement side mirrors
To be honest, I bought the brackets with no idea of the scale of them - they're pretty massive! I thought I might manage to mount them in the original position, but that wasn't feasible due to the size. The door-tops will probably stay in position, because most of the time out here in the wilds of B...

Re: Replacement side mirrors
Today I fitted some mirrors - the originals were removed by someone in the yard I found the vehicle in, and are probably now adorning a Gaz truck somewhere...(along with the tools, cable, chains...etc.) The arms are MB/ Unimog 404 from a dealer in Germany, from whom I also sourced the mirror heads (...

Vibrex fasteners
IMG_20150313_093337~2~2.jpg Just got some new Vibrex panel fasteners to replace my perished, missing and soggy originals. Anyone know just how the grey plastic bullet end is supposed to fit? I had imagined it to be a tight push-fit, but there's no interference at all between it and the pin... I gue...

Dashboard warning lights/lenses
Many of the warning lights in my 712M have faded to clear... I know I could probably retint them with nail varnish or similar, but just noticed these online http://pinzgauer-ersatzteile.webnode.at/kontrollplattchen/ so I'll replace the ones that are supposed to be red! Have dealt with Florian recent...
