Re: Rear diff light won't come on
I'm referring to the switch that makes the locker light illuminate. This is the switch in the witches hat. Everything up front is fine. I can hear the spring moving in the witches hat and I can feel the piston moving when I remove the slave. The small pool of fluid is gear oil in the housing. I coul...

Re: Rear diff light won't come on
Does the switch sit below the fluid fill level? As in, if I I pull it, do I need to have fluid on hand? I was surprised to see its actually not leaking too bad in there. Small pool at the bottom.

Rear diff light won't come on
So when I first got my 710M from Scott, he said he tested the locks and all was fine. The day I got the thing I went on a dirt road so that I could test them as well. Center diff came on, rear diff came on, and front diff came on. But the rear diff light was very dim. The next time I tried the rear ...

You're just looking for the stock military ignition cap? No other parts? I have my old military ignition I can let go of.

New Pinz!
My new-to-me '78 710M rolls in to Houston tomorrow and I'm elated and had to share. It's the Austrian one that Scott has been showing off the windows on! Which I have to give a shameless plug about Scott. This has been in the works since about June 1st and I couldn't have asked for a better experien...

Re: Carb jets for sale or trade.
In case you can't find any jets, I've seen this method used with great success. It's easy to undo and won't hurt the jet.

Re: Valve Seat Recession vs fuel additives
Also, sitting for extended periods hurts valve seats. My dad had a boat that sat in storage all winter, with the valve pressed up against the seat in the head. When we fired it up it idled, started idling poorly, then dropped it's seat. Ruined the head, cylinder wall, and piston. Make sure you're tu...

Re: Running rich. How to "lean out?"
In the bike world, it's common for guys to cut out openings in their airboxes and cover them up at low altitudes and then open up at high altitudes. If you are travelling over big altitude changes often, you could do the opposite of this. Jet your Pinz lean and run an air restrictor (like a very sub...

Re: Is "North American Pinzgauers" familiar to anyone?
I dealt with him before contacting Scott. Our correspondence was brief, but he did reply to his email. If you need his number let me know.
For what it's worth, none of the Pinzgauers on his website are for sale. It hasn't be updated in a long time.

Re: A forum related technical question...
I've had this happen on my Mac when I used Safari. What happened it when I first loaded whatever forum I was visiting, it cached the page. So after I logged in and went to a page and came back, instead of re-downloading the page, it just used the cached version. The problem was, the cached version d...

Re: Overdriving the transfer case?
My idea is to be able to maintain all offroading (lo range) characteristics. It'd be much easier to cut different ratio gears for the portals, but that will change everything. I sent off a few propositions to gear vendors, but nothing is concrete yet. I'm waiting on Andre to swap t-cases to get his ...

Re: Insurance Crisis
Of course, others results may vary and it is regional. My hopes were that someone could see what I had luck with, then call their provider and say 'Hey you quoted a guy in TX!' if it's the same provider and possibly get somewhere. Didn't mean to clutter it up, just making information available as I ...
