Electric Heater install.

I have a question that eludes me for the correct approach. I have a 24V electric heater in want to install for extra heat., it's 600 watt. Instructions call for a 60 amp. Alternator. the PinZ is 28-30 amp. No alternative that I know of within reason.. I am planing on adding 2 group 31 batteries, plu...

Re: Radial tire or original Bias ,

Here is an update on finding the right tire for my app. Today I broke down ( mentally) and drove in the back way to the Walmart tire shop.i had them put on 6 of their private label Goodyear Wranglers 265/75 R16 . I wanted their 235/85R16 as they were closer to the orig 245/16, but the 265 was the on...

Re: Radial tire or original Bias ,

I plan on radials , but , for pure plowing snow it is posable biased is the best. Remember there is over 300 lbs. on the plow and steer tires. ...so , what would you guys do as to size and brand. I have been looking at Goodyear wrangler authority 235/85/16. Or 245/75/16 in Hankook MT tire

Re: Radial tire or original Bias ,

the problem with most radials is they are too wide when you get into the bigger tires. personally i do want radials , its just my tire shop, as do many up here in snow country say ,run the narrow 9" for better traction .. the narrow tires, like the Mayorca thats on the truck now. I run Swampers...

Radial tire or original Bias ,

The 245 x 16 bias tire , non radial has been recommended by my tire store as a better choice. Hankook makes a bias tire 7.50 16 that looks a lot like the original equipment. I want a narrow tire for snow plowing etc. and it seems this is the only option i could find . any thoughts anyone ?

Re: Cooper stt or Bfgoodrich km2

New rubber is a good thing , but could be what's most important is the wear factor. My originals are smooth on the steer. Anyone know of camber adjustments ? My tire shop said the fronts have too much toe in ? Any one like to comment ?

Re: snow plow for 712

Have you considered a drag behind plow? With chains and the pintle hitch an old style farm plow/grader might do the trick. It will also make the truck less prone to damage from plow impacts. It sounds like you have to nice a truck to beat it up. That's what Chev's are for. Do I sound like a g...

Re: snow plow for 712

I have seen one with a factory plow; the plow is pushed though a clamped pivot just behind the front diff (clamps around the main chassis tube), and the plow has arms that reach back, under the diff and front axles, to that point. Then the lifting of the plow is done from the front of the frame. an...

I do not know if this subject has been addressed, ether way, I want to install a plow on my newly acquired 83 712 . I bought it over the holiday in N. Ky. A very original example. The main reason I bought it was to use it for limited snow plow work on my very steep driveway Not sure where to start s...
