Re: Low power at wheels

Yeah, I know Jim. He did great work with some problems I had last year. Unfortunately he's also about 2 hours away from me, even at normal Pinz speed... and right now I doubt it would make the trip. I'll call him tomorrow to get his advice, though.

Re: Low power at wheels

Problem is, regrettably, back. I guess the best way I could describe it is very much being like overgeared. It happens most prominently uphill. Even on a very gentle hill, there's a noticeable bogging of power. Unfortunately, I live on a fairly steep hill, and last night had to throw it into 1st gea...

Re: Low power at wheels

Bizarrely, the problem seems to have disappeared. I put about a mile on it just now to try and diagnose, and had nothing like the issue I had the other day (which was about 8 miles). Weather today is maybe 10 degrees cooler, otherwise no real changes. Took some steep hills as well as getting it up i...

Re: 710K cabin sleeping setups?

Yeah, I was thinking about litters, which have the mounts for leg supports, which I figure in turn could have a base installed in the floor or maybe folded down. There is just enough room going back-to-front from the rear door to the desk for me, a fairly tall person, to fit. There's not enough vert...

Re: Low power at wheels

I'll have to look into that. For some reason it seems I always end up posting these things right before I leave town or get insanely busy and have no time to immediately check into it.

Re: Low power at wheels

I've definitely experienced that before -- horrifying at highway speed! -- so I'm pretty damn careful about making sure the brake is disengaged before I go anywhere. But it is a bit finicky.

Re: Low power at wheels

Good point. Not sure if they're a culprit or not but the lines probably do need replacing. The other stuff (other than the tank, haven't dealt with that) is easy enough to quickly check.

710K cabin sleeping setups?

As long as I'm here, I'd be interested in seeing/hearing ideas on cool sleep setups for a 710K. I'd like to get mine into shape for cruising and camping, while still leaving the interior as stock as possible. Without removing the rear shelves, this means getting a bed/cot up fairly high in the cabin...

Low power at wheels

Not 100% sure this belongs here and not under ENGINE (in fact I'm very much hoping it doesn't!) but looking for a little advice troubleshooting a new problem I've been having. I'm seeing a noticeable (50% or more) loss of power from the pedal to the wheels, which seems to be getting worse. At first ...

Re: Starting problems - fuel pump? What next?

All right, thanks guys. Heading out of town for a little bit but will look at the lines and then I guess ignition after I return.

Re: Starting problems - fuel pump? What next?

Yes, there's fuel! I figured that might be part of the problem because when I last parked it it was on R, so I gave it a full gas can just to check that box off...

Starting problems - fuel pump? What next?

I've got me a 710K that doesn't want to start anymore. Starting was originally fairly quick + crisp, and I'd noticed was starting to take longer and longer to prime, especially after left to sit for more than a couple days. No surprise there, especially since I generally am forced to park it somewha...

Re: Bridging plates

Hmm, well what was originally fitted on the bridging plate area, then? I find it hard to believe that it was left as a shiny silver piece of metal, and it surely wasn't the red and white swiss army flags that some people like to put on theirs.

This is surprisingly hard to find info on.

Bridging plates

Looked for this high and low, and I can't find any good references or examples! Does anyone know what the original, service bridging plates looked like? I cannot find a single picture of such a thing, quite possibly because I don't read or write German...

Re: Stumbling in the rain?

Following, as I was experiencing sorta similar performance today – although in the complete absence of rain here in SoCal (there is a marine layer that's typical to this time of year but otherwise uncommon, though).
