Re: Starter sometimes fails to engage
The rubber plate that holds the starter in place tends to loose its shape after some 40 years ...sometimes there are tears as well. That causes mis-engagegement. So, if you remove the starter take a look at that plate. No 2 on this scematic: [urlhttps://www.puch.at/de/produkte-&-ersatzteile/pinz...

Re: Starts difficult after one week idle.
Hello Jan, your diagnosis is most probably right. take care, that not a tear in the membrane of the fuel pump is the issue, since in this case the fuel dilutes your engine oil. If you have ruled out this you have several possibilities: a; bypass the original fuel pump with a electrical one (I have a...

Re: Airing down with factory wheels & tubeless tires
My experiences with 255 Toyo open country M/T and Ford Transit rims (those do have a "tubeless hump" in opposite to the original ones) on a 710 MS: 2000 miles in sahara dunes and pistes down to 8 PSI without failure. No need for bead locks. The Tunesian part of the Sahara consists of nasty...

Re: 'Mad Iris' The Pinzgauer - Fiat Croma combo build
I don´t think the engine will make any problems ... I had the same in a Lancia Thema long time ago ... it had only a little to much torque for the small clutch and the long transmission, but no reason to blame the engine ... had 250 000 kms on the clock, when we sold the car. The SOFIM factory, now ...

Re: Knuckle Wipe Seal Replacment
The replacement of the seal is a simple fix ... some 6mm Allen screws ... but: either cut the new seal and re-glue it with the right glue in place or pull the halve-axle after removing shock and spring (you need the right spring compressor for the front!!!) with re-glueing the halveaxle in place (th...

I replaced the Molex by an AMP Superseal Connector many years ago ... that means to replace both sides and don`t get it wrong ...

Re: Clutch failure on trail. Need help.
could bring a spare disc since a clutch swap is 100% doable in the middle of nowhere with just the on-board toolkit That is what I always do, when going to remote areas like North Africa without spare supply available. The additional weight in bearable. And you need the suitable spare, since there ...

Re: Lots of cheap heaters popping up
This spring I was unwillingly forced to make a long term test of my chinese heater: As general practitioner I was faced with our first wave of Covid Cases at the end of february. The safest place to treat the infectious patients was a coleman event shelter in front of my office/practice with a sheat...

Re: Clutch failure on trail. Need help.
Sounds like a worn out clutch lining ... the Pinz is known to be there quite quick without true prior "announcements". Hydraulic failure usually results in failure to disengage! With that one can "limp" home. The good thing: if you have a new clutchkit it can be done also on a tr...

Re: Voltage Regulator
Dont forget to check the molex connector under the crest of the air-leading-hood next to the distributer ... when this is rotten/bad contact ... you can observe the same symptoms! I replaced it by a superseal connector like that: https://www.amazon.co.uk/QISF-Waterproof-Electrical-Automotive-Motorcy...
