Re: Fan belt won't tighten
I just took the fan nut off to examine the play and fit of the half pulley. It is good news and bad news. The half pulley is new, and fits very tightly. There is less than .2mm gap between the flat on the pulley and the flat on the fan. There is also very little play when I rotate the half pulley. T...

Re: Fan belt won't tighten
Thank you for this information. The fan nut was worn out more at the opening than deeper inside, so it did display the cone shape you refer to. The half pulley was lost when the nut came off while I was driving so it was replaced with a new one. It is possible that it was worn, but there is no way f...

Re: Fan belt won't tighten
Got a tap and die, and the threads on the new nut checked out just fine. Cleaned the shaft threads of corrosion and bits of the destroyed nut and it now all bolts up just fine. Glad to have it back running.

Re: Fan belt won't tighten
Thanks for the quick reply! I think I can take the fan off and run a die over the shaft threads to clean them up. They look ok, and the nut was the one the shed it's threads, but they could be boogered up a bit. I had to order the tap and die, as 14mm 1.5 isn't a size I could find locally, so one wa...

Re: Fan belt won't tighten
Reviving an old thread because I think I might have a similar problem. Newbie here. The fan nut came off while driving in a similar manner to the op. Was able to retrieve the nut which showed the threads were stripped off leaving little thread shavings on the male threads of the alternator. The thre...

Re: Speedometer error
Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. If there a lube point for this that I can try? Just some additional info. I'm using stock tire sizes 235/85/16. It also occurred to me that when I get the higher error at lower speeds, I'm in 4th gear and when it reads closer to the correct speed, I'm in 5th gear. Not s...

Speedometer error
I was checking my speedometer with a gps, and noticed it reads about 25% low when going about 25mph, but is much closer to the gps when going 50mph or above. The gps pretty much matches my car's speedometer within a couple mph at all speeds. I'm pretty new to this vehicle, so was wondering if others...

Re: 712K exhaust routing
I thought I would post a couple pictures of how the exhaust system was eventually routed for whoever the next guy is that has to do this.

Re: 712K exhaust routing
Thanks for the reply 4x4Pinz. Sorry for all the questions, this is new ground for me. Was the hi-clearance muffler something that was custom fabricated, or did you adapt an existing manufactured unit? Also, does the exhaust pipe exit out the back or out the side of your muffler?
Thanks
Scott
Thanks

Re: 712K exhaust routing
Thanks Hotzenplotz. I wonder if they have to make adjustments to compensate for lower back pressure with that type of exhaust?

712K exhaust routing
Hi everyone. First time poster. I have a new to me 712K that has its exhaust pipe routed straight back out of the muffler, and runs underneath the body to the back of the vehicle where it exits out the side. The pipe threads through a narrow gap between the floor of the box and one of the support ar...
