Re: Battery cut off switch

Yes, in my case it was a set of solenoids that I use to send power to a winch.

Re: Battery cut off switch

Thought I should get back to everyone with what the fix was. As suggested above, an accessory connected directly to the battery (bypassing the cutoff switch) provided a parallel current path that caused the solenoid activated by the cutoff switch to stay powered. Thanks for the detailed info from fo...

Re: Battery cut off switch

Thank you for the reply. The ignition switch was set to off before turning the battery cutoff switch off. With the ignition off, the cutoff switch will correctly turn on the solenoid. Once the solenoid is on, the ignition works normally, but the cutoff switch will not disconnect the solenoid. I have...

Battery cut off switch

Hi, I have an Austrian 712, and today the battery cut off switch stopped working. I drove around, and when I parked, I turned the cutoff "key" to the off position, and it did not disconnect power. When I undid one of the battery terminals, I could hear what sounded like a solenoid click, a...

Front locker seal

So my front diff has had a pretty severe leak into the torque tube since I got it. The oil level in the diff would drop rapidly until the torque tube would finally fill up to a level high enough that the diff would stop draining. I drove it this way last year and just kept an eye on the level thinki...

Re: Basic Stock Brake Performance Question

I drove my Pinz down the Mt Washington auto road in New Hampshire last summer. I think it’s about 7 miles of windy road with average 12% grade. There was a passenger with me and lots of camping gear, but not excessive weight. Using lower gears meant less braking and it was not a problem at all, but ...

Re: Wear ring question

Mine was done at a local auto restoration shop by a mechanic who had done these before, and it went pretty much like the EI video with just a few differences. 1) Instead of using the spindle extraction tool, there is just enough room to support the backing plate from the underside where the special ...

Re: Need Pinzgauer Fuel Tank and "Doghouse" engine cover

SAV website shows that they have doghouses in stock, new and used. Did they run out and forget to update the website?

Re: Wear ring question

I was thinking it was an "improvement" someone made along the way. The two sizes are too different to mix them up in any way.

Wear ring question

Fixing a leaky hub seal. Noticed the old wear ring has a plastic ring that sits under the o-ring. The plastic ring doesn't show up on the parts diagram and the new wear rings don't have this plastic. Does anyone know the story on these?

Re: What would cause a portal to puke fluid?

Coincidently, there is a link to an Expedition Imports video on how to replace the hub seal just above this thread. If that's the culprit, the leak might have also oiled your brakes on that wheel too.

Did you already rule out a leaky wheel drive seal?

I can try repairing it. There is nothing to lose.
