according to my repairmanual, the temp sensor under the pressure sensor tells the temp from the incoming oil from the pump before the cooler or am i wrong here?

the mount for oiltemp sensor under the thermostat is intended from steyr as far as i know to sit there. in the sump i think the influence is much bigger from outside temp. in my opinion the perfekt spot would be after the thermostat and the cooler because either its bypassed or not u would get the t...

just spoke to the military pinz mech with over 20y experience and he told me no matter what version of t case he only once replaced one and also not because of thermal failure.

as said i am fine with the lm gear oil additive product from other forums the mathy t or wagner micro ceramic is highly recommended but not tested on my own :roll: but i have a another question. after reading several posts in this forum i still dont understand why many are going up to 140 weight oil...

i only measured the ujoint itself after dismounting and comparing to some info in the internet(hard to find) and got 81.8mm width and 30mm cap diameter which is exactly the gkn u742

you can measure them pretty easy when dismounted to be sure. bearing cap diameter, crosswidth and place of the greasefitting.

i´ve done it 2 month ago. got the u joint from gkn , part number u742. all in all pretty straight forward mark the driveshaft teeth to the tube and also the flanges. i replaced it with the hammer method and vice method. pretty straight forward to youtube videos. also check(mayby if still installed) ...

i had to make the same decision but as i dont have any problems with oilpressure i went with the temperature gage from vdo in 24v.(btw, the manual says what i remember that a flashing or lightning from the pressure ligth in idle in hot temps is normal aslong it goes away when reving a bit up) after ...
