Re: Speedometer/odometer calibration?
Rather than re-gearing the speedometer itself, have you considered a gear box ratio adapter...? https://speedometercablesusa.com/gear_box_adapters.html YES! That's exactly what I was hoping for. Now....do you know if they'll have any idea what Pinzgauer is, or is it the same as something more commo...

Re: Speedometer/odometer calibration?
Thanks. Given that the odometer is also pretty fast, seems like a gearing question, and unless the drive gears in the transmission can be changed, it'd mean that gears in the odometer would have to change. Anyone happen to know if the speedometer section of the speedometer/odometer is direct-drive f...

Speedometer/odometer calibration?
Has anyone embarked on recalibrating their speedometer/odometer? My speedo is about 9% fast and odo is about 13% fast.
Of course I could take it to a shop, but I'm wondering about DIY options.

Re: Maloya tires
LT255/85R16 tires can be mounted on the stock wheels (rims). Note that the rim design does not have the bead retaining ridge.
They are like the bottom profile (pictured below), whereas most modern rims are of the upper profile.

Welcome to the family, Bob! A few thoughts on your experiences: On the DS oil leak, try to get everything nice and dry so you can carefully ascertain where the oil is coming from. In my case, I actually had a mis-machined fill port plug on the DS portal that was leaking. If it's truly from the weep ...

Re: Exhaust wrap
Hey yall, I am always looking for a way to reduce noise level and especially heat in the cab and am considering using exhaust wrap on manifold etc. the claim that it can reduce radiant heat by 50% would be amazing especially considering I was driving around yesterday in +40c. Among other claims it ...

Re: Maloya tires
I keep the Maloyas for when I want to have a classic parade look for the truck.
For driving, though, I went with Falken Wildpeak MT01 LT255/85R16. After much research, I found (as others have) that this is the sweet-spot size.

From what I read, if you drive on rain, ice, or packed-snow roads, the Maloyas are on the scary side.

Hmm. I'd put it on your list to pull the clutch sometime when it's convenient. Maybe you have some water damage inside? Been doing any water crossings?

Interesting. I just removed one of the lamp sockets and installed a new one.

$7 for both.
The SAV solution would likely have been much faster.

Re: Clutch
I'd be hesitant to go spraying WD-40 into my clutch zone. Sounds like the right answer is to pull the transmission and inspect/replace the clutch and related parts. It's pretty easy and you can do the whole job from inside the truck in a couple hours. If you start with it in gear but the clutch dise...

Fuel tank dip stick
Fuel gauges are fine, but a dipstick is a reliable way to get a very accurate tank measurement. It's the accepted way used by aircraft. So...I measured the tank, and came up with calibration marks for a dipstick such as a 1/4 dowel rod inserted where the gas cap goes, and accounting for the angle. T...

Re: Troubleshooting with Pinz SSI
Back before everybody relied on fancy computerized tools, we used ignition tester. Hold hold it up to the each cable and it would illuminate with each spark. I'm guessing those wouldn't work very well with the shielded factory wires. I confirmed my inductive pickup timing light was unimpressed by t...
