Re: Removing window on 710
I removed mines some months ago,
The bottom rail was glued, orange arrow,
Had to slide a knife, PITA, but did it.

Re: 2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module
Interesting. It's good to see real life data. Below I've overlayed the recommended stock Pinz advance range, just out of curiosity. I'm planning to go step by step indeed. I'll probably jump in with the Speeduino, adding a toothed wheel on my crankpulley, this way i can run stock with my current mec...

Re: 2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module
.... What's your end goal for all of this effort? From what I can see, the only notable advantage you listed is the ability to push the timing to a higher advance in order to reduce fuel consumption. I question that it'd be worth it. Keep in mind that more advanced timing will increase your CHTs. I...

2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module
Has anyone got experience with this kit: 2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module https://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/2013.htm It allows you to digitally play with your timing advance, while keeping your stock distributor, points, coil and plugs. I'm checking this as I'm ...

Re: Changing piston, cylinders and cylinder heads
thanks for the precious advice. This morning i was going to pick up some new windows for our bedroom and realised i was passing by the machine shop, the guy is specialized in classic Porsche and VW, so it thought i would bring him my heads and cylinders for advice. He was not too worried about the d...

Re: Changing piston, cylinders and cylinder heads
Thanks for the advice, i will still inform S-Tec, so they are aware. I guess there is no point in bringing them to a machine shop to get the surface milled ? Enough thickness for this work to be done ? One of the head (the one with the biggest dent actually) has a rather smooth and shinny mating sur...

Re: Changing piston, cylinders and cylinder heads
Yup, and nicely honed at that. Oh, curious, did the S-Tec heads come with the Valves seated and installed? Installed yes. Seated I guess. What is the best way to check this? I have a leak down tester, wondering if I could use it while the head is on the bench. I saw someone pouring down petrol in t...

Re: Changing piston, cylinders and cylinder heads
As can be seen in my vide above, the cylinders are covered with a black coating, I suppose this is some kind of rust protection ? I certainly have to clean this off before mounting the piston and rings, right ? What about the black coating on the outside of the cylinder, do i need to clean it off ? ...

Re: Changing piston, cylinders and cylinder heads
So finally i decided to change the cylinders, pistons and complete new heads,
because S-TEC had a 20% sale in february, and machine shops are very expensive here in Switzerland.
Here are the parts I received from S-Tec , i'm planning to do the work in May:

Re: How to remove springs from distributor
Has anyone come up with the ideal advance curve for the Pinzgauer? It would take a few minutes to reprogram the PinzSSI to that curve if it were available. Also, what are the alternatives to centrifugal weights advance on the Pinz ? I think Pinz SSI could do this, but I understand they are no longe...

Re: How to remove springs from distributor
Has anyone come up with the ideal advance curve for the Pinzgauer? It would take a few minutes to reprogram the PinzSSI to that curve if it were available. Isn't the ideal curve the one shown in the Pinz manual (which i use for ma chart below)? By the way, I managed to mostly fix ma advance by slig...
