Re: crankcase ventilation
Hague’s, Ithink you are right, the oil fill tube acts as an oil separator. The problems are (a) any water that condenses out also goes back into the sump, and (b) there is not enough airflow through the crankcase to flush out the water vapor. I think the big challenge to adding using a PCV system w...

Re: crankcase ventilation
But isn't the stock oil filler tube acting as a oil catch can? Returning the oil to the oil pan. I've removed it, it's like one tube into another. The inner tube is where you fill in the oil. The outer tube is like a sleeve around the inner one. The breather tube coming from the 4th cylinder valve c...

Re: Megasquirt MS3Pro Mini ECU
Curious.... Where did you install the O2 sensor? Yes good question, On the green circle below. Right on top of that pipe, 12 o'clock, Had to be at least 60cm away from engine exit. And this way I measure the combustion of both carbs. Had to remove the exhaust between the engine and the heat exchang...

Re: crankcase ventilation
Hi Jimmy Years later I am working on an EFI (Jake Raby's) and also wondered where does the air come IN the carterhouse ? There are 2 breather hoses, one from cylinderhead-4 and one from the top of the oil-filler post. I thought that maybe the one from the cylinderhead-4 was supplying air..., but it...

Re: Megasquirt MS3Pro Mini ECU
Installed the O2 sensor and the 36/1 toothed wheel this long week-end With the O2 sensor, already saw that my idle fuel mixture was too rich, so adjusted the carbs live with the O2 sensor, no more guessing for me. short video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEBzG3iG8Yo IMG_20240511_144557.jpg

Megasquirt MS3Pro Mini ECU
I finally decided to buy an ECU for my Pinz, first to monitor its advance and exhaust gas, then when everything is stable i will drive the advance with it instead of my distributor, maybe one day upgrade to EFI but that's not sure yet, I bought this gear from https://www.diyautotune.com/product/ms3p...

I removed mines some months ago,
The bottom rail was glued, orange arrow,
Had to slide a knife, PITA, but did it.

Re: 2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module
Interesting. It's good to see real life data. Below I've overlayed the recommended stock Pinz advance range, just out of curiosity. I'm planning to go step by step indeed. I'll probably jump in with the Speeduino, adding a toothed wheel on my crankpulley, this way i can run stock with my current mec...

Re: 2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module
.... What's your end goal for all of this effort? From what I can see, the only notable advantage you listed is the ability to push the timing to a higher advance in order to reduce fuel consumption. I question that it'd be worth it. Keep in mind that more advanced timing will increase your CHTs. I...

2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module
Has anyone got experience with this kit: 2013 CB Performance Black Box Programmable Timing Control Module https://www.cbperformance.com/product-p/2013.htm It allows you to digitally play with your timing advance, while keeping your stock distributor, points, coil and plugs. I'm checking this as I'm ...

Re: Changing piston, cylinders and cylinder heads
thanks for the precious advice. This morning i was going to pick up some new windows for our bedroom and realised i was passing by the machine shop, the guy is specialized in classic Porsche and VW, so it thought i would bring him my heads and cylinders for advice. He was not too worried about the d...
