Re: Oil on the brake shoes - what are the usual suspects?

All, I have had the Pinz for about 10 years. One of my first projects was pulling an axle to replace the seal in to portal axle. At the time it was obvious which seal was at fault. I had to do it all twice because I was given the wrong size seal to install. I even bitched to the forum about "on...

Oil on the brake shoes - what are the usual suspects?

My pinz has made life interesting in the brakes department lately. Last summer the truck was pulling to the right, the harder the braking the harder the pull. I took off the drum and found one of the brake cylinders was leaking. I rebuilt it, reinstalled it, cleaned everything, and enjoyed even brak...

Re: J.R.'s EFI Kit

First I can't post the video up it has a big warning to not duplicate share ect at the beginning. So far benefits on my 2.5 include: More hp More tork Lower Head temps Auto choke 1-2 mpg increase No points, rotor or cap to replace. Down falls: Kinda Expensive Takes a fair amount of time to install ...

Re: J.R.'s EFI Kit

There was a time, as I recall, that Dennis Williams of LinDen Engineering suggested that the K&N filter wasn't a good choice for the Pinz. I have not taken the time to search the archives for his posting, but it may be worth your time to try to verify what I am saying...

Winch Bumper and Trailer Hitch

I built the winch bumper years ago. This weekend I bolted a receiver to the bottom to help move a theater group this week. My Nissan Frontier is still off the road, so the Pinz is my daily driver. I plan to remove the receiver when I'm done, to limit the problems with ground clearance off-road. The ...

Erik,

You kinda lost me. What are you implying with the statement about driving around with the exhaust off?

Performance carburators usually, in my understanding, have numerous jets available to allow you to fine tune the mixture. The Pinz doesn't have a range of jets to choose from. Of course, someone could drill out the jets to create a richer mixture. This is getting way past my skill level! I am actual...

Strain washer: If you have the parts manual (it is actually fairly indispensable) group 1 01, part #56, 712.1.15.116.1. Or alternatively, crawl under the truck and observe the nuts holding on the oil pan/sump. Under are the washers. They are square and cupped such that the four rounded corners are t...

For backfiring to happen, you need fuel and oxygen. Normal rich running uses up all the oxygen in the air/fuel mixture. so what leaves the exhaust port cannot further combust. If you have an exhaust leak, air can make its way into the system giving you again a air/fuel mixture, which can backfire. W...

Sump pan replacement

My 710 has had a leak around the oil pan for quite a while. I bought a gasket and pulled the pan. I then decided it looked ratty, so I sandblasted the pan and painted it. When I went to reassemble it I couldn't figure out what I had done with the gasket. I also have a 712, which is in pieces for a g...

So it is the trophy wife of exhaust systems - beautiful, but not functional. The engine was designed around an expected backpressure. You have decreased the backpressure, which is apparently leaning out the mixture, leading to backfiring. Lean mixtures also burn valves...I don't know enough a...

Jer,

What did you use for the through-body fuel inlet? Does the cover remove, or pop in?

Thanks,
