Re: Engine wanted

I know of only one guy...The Wiper Guy Don West 3730 NE Grandhaven Dr. McMinnville, Oregon 97128 https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1086158 last summer, I approached Don with the task of converting a pair of TGB1314 wiper motors from 24v to 12v. His knowledge of this type of wiper...

Re: Engine wanted

Specifics on the clutch components please. Those components look very nice indeed. Are you using the standard TOB? From the previous discussion on the fast revving diesel OM617A, I am not advocating those motors be run at high rpm continuously but it is reassuring to know that the ones I have seen i...

Re: Engine wanted

When I look up the specs for the Cummins 2.8, this is what comes up. Configuration: Inline 4 cylinder Weight: Approx. 475 lbs, not including emissions equipment Horsepower: 210 hp @ 3,600 rpm Torque: 385 lb-ft @ 1,800 rpm The two MB engines that I have seen used for Volvo TGB diesel transplants usin...

Re: Engine wanted

WOW!!!
That is amazing workmanship! Definitely not for the faint of heart...or wallet!
With that amount of rotating mass, crawling up inclines in low range AWD at idle should be a walk in the park. Point and go.
Well done!

Re: Engine wanted

Congratulations on the progress. Looks like a very snug fit. Sounds great! Do you have any photos available showing The clutch pressure plate mounted to the flywheel both before and after mounting the engine-to-transmission adapter plate? Did you use the original Volvo pressure late, disc and TOB? O...

1979 Volvo TGB211A MT on eBay.

Just found this on eBay this morning.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1979-Volvo-TGB ... 3121899307

Looks like a very solid truck already located in the US.

Take care.

Re: Engine wanted

Dokatd, Perhaps it is just the angle of the photo and the offset of the new motor with the original Volvo bellhousing but the new motor's flywheel OD looks significantly larger than the Volvo bellhousing. Is your swap going to a new transmission or are you sticking with the original ZF unit? Take ca...

Re: Engine wanted

Tmoney, Could you post a few photos of the FI system used on your C304 B30 engine? Shortly after taking delivery of my first TGB11 in 2004, I secured an intake manifold from a Volvo 164E/B30E engine. My measurements showed the aluminum intake with throttle body would not fit in an undisturbed TGB en...

Re: Turn signal flasher

Lee6x6, On the four "family" truck trucks I have had the opportunity to work with over the years, all have had the turn signal relay located in the cab. part numbers are: 1587993-5 for 24V and 1582412-1 for the 12V unit. Claes Hellborn at Tatanka.nu lists the following: https://www.tatanka.nu/en/pro...

Re: Engine swap without removing body

Ed, We built the adapter plate and used the original Volvo bellhousing and transmission. We used MB flywheel and pressure plate and a Land Rover clutch disc. I understand from Gosta at SMT that he also produces an adapter plate to allow the same OM617A/Volvo bellhousing mating. The engine must be in...

Re: Are the old weber and NDIX carbs interchangeable?

Tjerk, Tell us more about the history your SA Haflinger. Now to your lack of carburetor issue. As John pointed out, the four bolt manifold indicates the Zenith-Pallas 32NDIX carburetor. A quick search of eBay reveals many used carbs from the early Porsche 356 series cars. These were twin carb set-up...

Re: Engine swap without removing body

Ed, You are not crazy. Years ago, a friend went through two B30A motors in his TGB 13 airport fire truck. Replacing original motors/transmissions/transfer case by removing everything from below is quite easy. Around the same time, I completed a conversion of a TGB 1314 from original Volvo powerplant...
