Before I order a resistor, what voltage am I suppossed to be getting at the coil? I was getting 17 at idle and 21 while reved. I understood this was the correct voltage. Seems that the general consensus is that I am getting too much and frying the coil due to the resistor providing too much juice. I...

4500 module is still jumped. I am thinking coil. Gets hot of 35 minutes at 55-60 mph and slowly dies. Strange it wouldn't fire on the new coil at first. Only fired after I had pulled the ignitor, checked it and put it back in. Scott, I did the conversion 4 weeks ago and it was running fine. Thanks f...

Alright, did a bunch of tests. It was definetly not getting spark. Tried a NAPA coil, no spark. Talked to Scott at EI and he said the resistor in the dash might be wired wrong giving me too much voltage at the coil, frying it. He also told be to check the ignitor. Said if the coil was fried, ignitor...

Got up this morning and jumped the wires on the 4500 module. Fired right up. Made the 35 mile run to work. About half way it started hesitating. 5 miles out I started getting some "pops". Died as I pulled into the parking lot. Won't start. Not getting spark. Tried a NAPA coil, no go. Help!...

Scratch vapor lock. I can get it to start, but as soon as I rev it up, the 4500 light starts flashing and it dies. It is about 65 degrees out right now. It is getting fuel and air. I just converted it to civilian ignition and pertronix ignitor. Could the ignitor be bad? Where does the 4500 light con...

Wondering if any of you have ever had one vapor lock on you? I am at high altitude, and it is one of the hottest days of the year. I was running pretty hard, around 60-62 mph. As it sat and cooled, it would start for longer periods of time before dyeing. The tack light started flashing as I was pull...

4500 then died

I was driving home tonight and all the sudden the 4500 tach light came on. I was on the highway and only had 10 miles to go. It was flashing off and on, sometimes solid. It seemed to be running fine. When I pulled off and came to a stop, it died and wouldn't start again. Towed it home, it would star...

wrenches, couple of screw drivers, needle nose pliers, basic stuff.......ain't much to em. You will also need a float guage tool, very expensive from SAV.

Mine were pretty bad before the rebuild. I also re-jetted. Not much smoke at all now. Runs 65 down the highway no problem.

Jim and everyone, thanks for the help. The carbs were really messed up. I have no idea why it ran as well as it did before the rebuild. Float level was off, linkages bent and out of whack, base gaskets shot, old insulator gasket on top of an even older one on the rear, no spring on the lever on the ...

Would not having them on there make in difference on the idle? IE- higher than normal?

When I took off the carbs for the rebuild, they had a thick 1/4 in gasket between the carb and the manifold. Used the thin one in the kit for replacement. Any chance the carb sitting lower could have effected something? Perhaps float level?

Man, this thing is driving me crazy..... Jim, thanks for all the help. Here is where I am. With the linkages off, the carbs idle fine. Idle mixture screws out 1 1/2 turns, rpm 930, cfm on carbs around 14. As soon as I attach the linkages, rpm's shoot up to 1200 and one carb (rear) goes to 19 cfm, ot...
