I must put in my two cents worth on this subject. I replaced my Espar with a diesel Webasto I purchased from Dennis. The old Espar worked well enough, but I was just apprehensive about having a potential bomb behind my seat. Also, there are some real benefits with a new heater, the best is that you ...

I was advised that a U.S. Military lunette would bind with the Pinz pintle. I towed a U.S. trailer, and it did bind, though only during back-up. Is binding during back-up normal? (It was not greased - maybe that's why??) Does anyone here use a U.S. Military trailer with any good/bad opinions? I use...

I have big tires and the extra weight of a 710K. I can start out in
second gear, but it seems to me that I´m slipping the clutch a little too much.
So I now always start out in first gear.

Hi Denny,

And what might be the price if I provided a complete alternator? I am
asking for the price of the rebuild and the stator rewind.

Best regards,

Morris,

If others can hear a click when you press the PTT, then you are probably
transmitting Ok. Mike cords are notorious for going bad. See if you can
borrow a known working mike to try.

Jay....when you drilled out the old cap what was holding it in place? Did you damage the metal canister at all. Any part numbers? Miles Miles, I didn't drill out anything. I dug out the potting compound so that I could get at the three screws that hold the bakelite inner cap to the outer metal shie...

A set of these just sold on eBay. I didn't see the final bid, but it was up to
somewhat over 150 Euros near the end.

I would have to agree that a hydraulic winch would be more reliable,
however, the Pinz has no place for a PTO and I doubt that a belt driven
pump (on the engine) would be able to develop the necessary pressure.

Hi Jake,

What about the oxygen sensor(s) on the exhaust header(s)? Not a big deal,
but still a modification that needs to be considered in the overall scheme of
things.

A few more episodes of condensation in the dizzy cap. It´s starting to piss me off. A comparison of the original military cap to the "civilian" cap shows that the military cap is taller and has a longer distance between electrodes because of the towers surrounding the electrodes. This is p...

Condensation in the Dizzy Cap

I switched to a civilian style ignition setup last summer and I thought that I was happy with it except that it has left me sit three times so far. Once was because the Pertronix coil failed. Twice it was because of condensation in the distributor cap. I never had any issues with the OEM setup excep...

How To: Remove and Replace Cylinder Head

I have a broken exhaust port stud on #1 cylinder and it is the one towards the engine. It is broken off flush with the head surface. There really isn't any room to drill it out, so it looks like I need to remove the head to do the repair. Can the head(s) be removed without pulling the engine? Any ot...

Same thing happened to me today - truck suddenly died and would not restart even though it seemed like it was trying. Turned out that the Pertronix coil from a civvie ignition conversion had a very weak and maybe intermittent output. I put the military coil back on and it fired right up and runs jus...
