Re: Catch can

That looks simple to install. Do you have a part number? I think I want to try it.

Re: Catch can

It would catch the blow-by oil and keep it out of the intake, therefore off the valves and piston top (carbon build-up). I'm not sure one could be installed on a Pinz anyway as there's no PCV valve. Every Pinz is an oil burner.

Catch can

Has anyone ever installed a catch can on a gas Pinzgauer? Google 'catch can' if you're not familiar with the term.

I would think the Pinz engine would be a good candidate for one.

Re: Looking for reason my piston melted

It looks like a lack of oil, but I have no idea how that could happen.

No jack stand. I agree, it looks like there is no back tire, but both tires are still on. The jack is only leveling the bumper while he tightens a bolt.

A tale of 2 Professors

I am fortunate to be able to say that I have associated with both Professor Pinzgauers within a matter of days of each other. Here is the American Professor Andre working on his truck in my driveway- IMG_1689.JPG And here is the Australian Professor's 712M at his shop last night- IMG_1803.JPG IMG_18...

Re: Ignition Timing

I have it stated in the instructions that the timing can be advanced, just use common sense. By setting the timing at TDC, the curve advance follows the factory recommendation as close as possible. Advancing is OK, and is accomplished by rotating the module against the rotation of the timing disc (C...

Check the back side of the alternator and make sure all the connections are good. Clean and tighten the battery cables. Check fan belt tension.

Very interesting! It looks like the Swiss bought the majority until 1982. I wonder about the condition of those in Saudi Arabia and Oman, since they were in a dry climate.

Re: Pinzi SSI

You are right, the converter is strictly a 2-1 step down transformer, not a regulator. But having this converter has 2 distinct advantages 1) The module is much more forgiving if one battery is bad or undercharged. If both batteries have a combined output of 18 volts minimum, the module with functio...

Re: Pinzi SSI

I cannot find the spec sheet that described the firewall parameters, but I did find this shorter version. So far the device has performed flawlessly.
A larger capacity version is available is a customer wanted to power something bigger, but not a winch.
