Re: Heater ground connection

If the heater is off and the engine is off, that relay should be open and no parasitic draw. Look for a power drain on the positive side. That is one thing I hated about the gas Pinzes, the negative disconnect. Basically it means that you cannot run any cables directly back to the battery on the neg...

Re: Heater ground connection

What that circuit is for is the same as for the engine.
It maintain the ground if the battery switch is open while the heater is being operated.

Re: Maloya tires

Unless you plan to use rocky off-road, on a farm, and never see a highway, the Maloyas are only "ok". They are an extremely old technology tire that went away over 40 years ago. Like NDT tires, they are hard as rocks and have little traction on wet slippery paved road. I've had 4 Pinzes in...

Those are the correct glass. Laminated for the windshield, tempered for the side.

Re: 710K Door Lock Keys

I did locksmithing for my commercial customers for 35 years, never had locks on my gas Pinz but did for the diesels. Mr Zero has the right keys but those are Ilco numbers for 2 blanks that are the same keyway. Either google Ilco X21 or YS1. It is not uncommon to have a single keyway to be used on di...

Re: High idle speed.

Check the butterfly shafts for play at the bushings. Spray carburetor cleaner or WD-40 at the shafts where they go through the carburetor body. If the RPM goes up that is your leak. Remember that these trucks in many cases are 50 years old and have gone through a lot of wear. The float level would b...

Re: Troubleshooting with Pinz SSI

Back before everybody relied on fancy computerized tools, we used ignition tester. Hold hold it up to the each cable and it would illuminate with each spark.

Re: 710m rear springs

I may not have my nomenclature quite correct here...I was under the impression that a 716 was a diesel version of a 710 4x4 and maybe came with a heavier duty spring in the rear? I guess what I was getting at was that maybe someone swapped in a hd spring from another model or something. Are the 710...

Re: Battery cut off switch

Case in point, at the moment I have a dedicated 24V fuse block that is tapped and fused off the batteries. It is independent of the electrical system of the vehicle so to speak. If the cutoff switch is in either the on or off position this fuse block is always hot. So am I correct in my interpretat...

It sounds like it is working correctly considering an additional leads to the batteries which can blow out electronics added.

Re: Battery cut off switch

Did you turn the ignition switch off before turning the main disconnect off ? If not, the solenoid is there to protect the alternator. If you did turn the ignition off, it could be a bad ignition switch. Also, has any wiring been added where it went back to the batteries directly? This could defeat ...

Oil cooler failure would have been my first guess. . Next would bee the head/head gasket
Just for reference, which hose burst and does your truck have the coolant afterrun pump ?
Is there coolant in the sump?
