I say no if the adj nut has backed off you will have to much space and it could mushroom the head of the valve.

You will have to split the trany case to replace the input shaft and take it from me you dont want to open up that can of worms.

Paul nothing went into your piston the damage is from to much heat or timing to advanced sence the rings were not damaged one other thing that may have caused this is to lean fuel mixture caused to much heat. swiss army vehicles have after market ones i use them all the time and it is a good idea to have the shaft balanced like mike said.

I'v used the green napa belt for years and not one failed so far. maybe they were some that have been on the shelf to long.

I would try adjusting the steering first jack up the ft end with wheels off the ground adj the gear box so you get a little drag in the center swing from lt to rt just fell a little drag it will be loose on both ends. If you still have play you need to rebuild the gear box.
