Lots of people from SoCal to check with...

I'm from Sonora and can only suggest areas like Calico (near Barstow) and west of Truckhaven (west of Salton Sea) .

good luck

Pump Bolts

If you can FIND metric bolts drilled for safety wire, I would use safety wire. Find some small diameter (.032") safety wire, it's not hard at all to do. You could probably ask at any airport for some help, likely get a couple of feet of wire for free from a friendly mechanic or home-builder. Ru...

Pinz Camper

I would suggest doing a simple search "Pinzgauer Camper", there are lots of pinz pictures out there. I went the build it up route rather than using an ambulance, costs more but fits my needs. Search for "Blue monkey pinzgauer" on a really neat ambulance conversion...there are man...

Drain Plugs

Remember that you are putting Steel Plugs into an aluminum hole! Don't over-tighten and be sure to use an Anti-Seize compound on the threads. If you strip out the aluminum threads you will have to use "heli-coils" of another type of thread insert...kind of a pain. If you use new cop...

U-Joints

A good idea, let a shop check it out.
If you are running at high speeds a lot it would be worth balancing!

I read somewhere that there is a aftermarket U-joint.

Toughbook Mount

The toughbook mount is a surplus desk swing arm mount for an OLD monitor (glass tube style). It came with a clamp to attach it to a desktop and the swing arm had a pan and tilt assembly (ball type) for the monitor base. I cut the arm to about 7 inches from the center of the pan/tilt part, ground the...

GPS?

I used a Garmin iQue for a while, but too small for real work. I now have a Panasonic Toughbook and a Garmin "18" USB Gps with "nRoute" laptop software. This works really well on my windows 2000 system. It came with City navigator but you could add topo maps also. There many USB ...

Storage Box

I have used a heavy duty plastic box in my712 with good results. While not as "bulletproof" as a metal one it is inexpensive and has plenty of room. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=684205&ecid=EX26E Picture; http://image.sportsmansguide.com/dimage/144195_ts.JPG?cvt=jpeg...

Brake Light Switch

I haven't replaced one yet but I found this info in the Pinzgauer Alternative Parts List. "Brake Light Switch Volkswagen or NAPA 1981 Rabbit (CAUTION! THERE ARE 2 TYPES, ONLY ONE FITS!!)" NAPA sells a large assortment of copper seal washers also. TIP: If you want to re-use th...

Wiper Motor

I've been thinking about a two speed motor setup. I have a hole in the instrument panel just left of the wiper switch, BN4 heater fan? The motor is a brush type D.C. motor that should operate at lower voltages, I'm not sure how low you could go but I would be happy to just have a high and a lower sp...

Wheel Studs and Lugnuts

Just a suggestion... When putting on lug-nuts run them on just finger tight and then work a cross-over pattern. Start at top and snug it down a bit, then go to the second lug down on either side and snug it down, then go to the first lug down on the opposing side and snug it down and finally go acro...
