Re: Foam in oil

Brickren, About 5 years ago I found two fixes. I pulled the thermostat and put it in a pan of water and turned on the heat. watched for a change...couldn't see a change. Borrowed a thermostat from a friends 1970 Porsche 911, 2.2 liter and checked it in the pan. It turned out that MY thermostat was S...

Re: Diesel front springs on a 712?

Looks to me that you don't have any weight in the rear.
Throw some weight in the back to compress the rear springs .
Should level the truck a little.

If you lift the front and you put a load in the back,
then it could make the rear look droopy! :(

Re: Expedition imports, trust worthy?

I have always had good service from Scott (EI) since 2006, when I first
met him.

He is very busy at times, suggest leaving a message on the phone or send an email.

Currently he is in the process of moving into a much larger facility,
moving vehicles, parts and tooling takes a while.

Re: Massachusetts Insurance

Some Ideas on Insurance Most important is the vehicle name/brand...Steyr, this seems to be what is known by the insurance companies. I took my 712 to my insurance agent so that she could SEE it, lets the agent see just what it is, and how big it is. I described it as a VW bus on steroids, she looked...

Re: 24VDC Heater OPtions

Pinzi33 If you have the money, get a modern diesel or gas heater. Some suggestions to help get warmer 8) 1. Seal the rear flap that covers the divider screen (cab to cargo area) as well as you can. Unless you are trying to heat the rear, too much heat is needed for that volume. 2. Make sure that the...

Re: Source for 24v multifuel NOS military heater fuel pump?

You might checkout the steel soldiers site. There are many of their members that have parts, or know places to find them. Another thought...there is a military engine heater that heats water to warm up the engine. It is the same as the Benmar 20,000 btu cabin heater and uses a lot of the same parts....

Re: Out of Touch - Explanation

Scott,

It is good that you are doing better, just take it slow and easy!

Our prayers are with you and your family.

Dorene said "enough of that" you're making Kathy work too hard!

Hope you have a speedy recovery

Re: bottle jack rebuild kits

I'm interested in rebuilding my jack also.

My question has been - are the seals compatible with the hydraulic jack oil??

If anyone can get numbers for the seals and/or put together a kit, let me know.

Thanks

Re: 67 SAAB coupe

What a trip...a dear old friend of mine (bless his soul, he passed on two years ago) had a 1966 Saab. That 2 stroke was a 3 cylinder

Another friend had a 4 cylinder. Brings back some dear memories.

Re: Stuck oil fill plug

Some other thoughts... When installing plugs use anti-seize compound on the threads, steel <-> aluminum fittings may damage the aluminum threads if no anti-seize and/or SCREWED IN VERY TIGHT. I used to work on helicopters, most work (about 80%) is done with 1/4 inch drive...small bolts and lot...

Re: Street legal: front marker lights & replacement speedom

I have 12 volts supplied to the front of the cab wired to a terminal strip (to operate an am/fm radio and can use it for GPS andother items). I ran a wire to the speedo so the original 12 volt bulbs work fine. I changed the original 12 volt bulb to 12 volt LED (I like a blue-ish white light). Rememb...
