Re: 1972 710m Pinzgauer for sale in Colorado

Maybe you're right and I should just keep it. We just bought a new 4x4 van though and we're kind of packed with our driveway situation... After looking back at previous pictures and watching some videos I certainly got a bit nostalgic.

I just relisted it for an even more reasonable price of $11.5 and updated the Real4x4 listing as well...

Re: 1972 710m Pinzgauer for sale in Colorado

Just to give the story of this Pinz, here is. Well, it all started in 2003 when we bought it from an private seller here in Colorado. We had a choice of several Pinzies at the time and Dennis Williams (one of the premier mechanics on these types of trucks) recommended we get this one. He said that t...

Re: 1972 710m Pinzgauer for sale in Colorado (priced too low

Bump for a reasonably priced, clean Pinzgauer. Maybe my price is too low and people are questioning the condition? Maybe I should be posting it for $17k or something like that to get taken seriously :?

1972 710m Pinzgauer for sale in Colorado

Hi all, We used to be pretty active in the Pinz community until kids started coming along. So for the last 8 years the Pinz has been seeing less and less usage. The point has now come that we are parting with it to make space for a 4x4 Full size van. Long story short: There's a Pinz for sale on Crai...

Re: Side Rail Replacement

Mine were falling apart as well a few years ago and I replaced them with pressure treated wood. I simply took a pressure treated 2x4 and cut it to the same dimensions as the old one and installed it.

I used Saturn seats in the front, don't remember model number. I made a custom frame for them. They sit nice and low.

I have Dodge Neon seats in the back now where width isn't quite as crucial.

In my opinion you are leaving out the mod with the biggest return of investment. New Seats. I replaced the stock seats with some Saturn seats for about $50 and it made the Pinz experience much better. Other small mods I've enjoyed are making the window tops removable by cutting notches in the window...

You can also find a local shop that services drum brakes for big rigs. In Denver I've had good luck with DriveTrain Industries. They will remove the old pads, clean everything, put on new shoes, turn the drums if necessary and then trim the shoes to match the drums they are paired with.

Even if you could get a higher pressure air supply with your setup, you would still have to find a way to get additional fuel into the cylinder. The carburetors will not add more fuel just because the air pressure is higher. Thus, if your contraption were to work, you'd start running lean.

I guess that's why I think its a good idea to bring both the shoes and the drums to a shop to have the shoes relined and to make sure that the radii of the shoes and drums match. The braking power is already not that good, so I want to make sure I get the maximum performance out of the system. -Douwe

I didn't want to spend too much time or money on my new rub rails so I made them out of pressure treated wood and haven't painted them yet. I didn't like the look of Trex in the store. I saw a board with a chunk taken out of it and it make Trex look kind of brittle. I think that wood deals better wi...

Wait a minute! I've been putting expensive gasoline in my tank when I could've been using water? What was I thinking :x By the way, a simple calculation shows that to get 1 HP (yes only 1) from this HHO mixture your battery has to supply 100 amps. Hmm, practical? I don't think so. Its a scam...

I recently removed my tank and had a company in town clean it with some kind of caustic solution that removed nearly all the lining in the tank. I did not have it relined. This cost me about $100.

Googling the phrase led me to a beer stein translations page http://www.germansteins.com/Beer_Stein_Translations.html There it says that "froh gemut" means "happy spirits". With that I guess your stein says something like "a jolly song makes happy spirits". We'll see wh...
