Re: Post Pinzgauer Project

Winter saw us travelling all the way up into the arctic, something we would not have done in winter in the Pinzgauer, not because the Pinz couldn't cope, but inside with marginal heat from the exchanger we would have frozen and the cost of fuel to travel that far would have been so much more. Headin...

Re: Can You Hand Crank A Pinz Gasoline Engine?

I have heard that this is possible...... 4x4 Pinz in 2wd, chock the wheels, jack up on one side at the back, in 2nd gear with ignition on, rotate jacked wheel to 'hand crank' engine. Once started wheel will spin dangerously and of course if it slips off the jack it will run away, but it might get yo...

Re: Volvo Sugga or is it!

The reindeer are semi domestic and herded by the local Sami. To reduce road deaths they put high-viz reflective collars on the animals. The reindeer will be closely looked after by their herders so I'm sure no risk of strangulation.

Volvo Sugga or is it!

Just back from an amazing 4000+ km tour of northern Europe right up into the arctic. Have to say it is not something I would have done in winter in the Pinzgauer. Was thankful for my Webasto heater which kept the van (VW T5 4Motion) warm even when sleeping through a minus 25C night. At Saariselka in...

Re: Post Pinzgauer Project

Just completed a 1700 mile, three week round trip to Latvia. What was really a family visit for my girlfriend to see her mum was also a great overland (and water) trip for our camper. The journey started in Scotland and then south to Newcastle on England to catch a ferry to the continent. The next d...

Re: Post Pinzgauer Project

Yet another weekend trip to the Highlands. The van is making light work of the 300 mile round trip! Great weather and a chance to get up to the high mountains... Braeriach (Scotland's third highest) and saw the reindeer herd which has been introduced to the Cairngorm Mountains. The area is a sub-arc...

Re: Post Pinzgauer Project

Well so far the only thing I can say about the BF Goodrich AT KO2s is that fuel consumption is much the same as before but road noise has increased. That is compared to either Goodyear Van Cargo or Hankook. The KO2s are M&S and snowflake marked and also rated B for wet weather grip (important he...

Late Summer weekend away in the Scottish Highlands. Amazing weather and not too many midges. Got some AT tyres on the van.
