Heaters
I don't come over here much as I sold my Pinz. You can and will see improvement by insulating the ducts and cleaning the exchanger. You will notice that the guys that are happy with that live in the warmer climates. There is nothing that will beat an Espar or Webasto for serious cold like in IA, MN,...

It's easy
I did it in the driveway by myself one night with a six pack. Very easy to DIY.

Paint away. Erik, wouldn't you want the heat exchanger to hold more heat? I don't think paint has much in the way of insulating properties...

Just curious why you are worrying about this? All of these temps are pretty low. 140 degrees for the t-case seems fine to me.

Hey Todd
Better you than me as far as I am concerned. I have done that job twice and was always concerned I was going to break that gear. Both times it made a sound like it broke but it didn't thank god. Sorry that thing is giving you trouble!

4500 light
Just hold it on the floor in neutral. It'll come on. It surprising how much noise there is at 4500 rpms...:) I think you need to be doing near 80mph in a 710 in 5th gear to get the light on. About 67 or so in a 712 if I remember right. Use a GPS and see. The tachs are so inaccurate. I had one and it...

coincidence
I don't really see how it can be related to the oil really. Good luck anyway as Pinz ownership can often be a challenge

oil
I would think the synthetic oil is cleaning up deposits in the crankcase which is turning the oil black quickly. However, I would be that is not the issue with your plugs. Black and sooty typically means too rich mixture. (carburetion) As far as the other truck burning oil, I think most Pinz's do to...

in case you hadn't noticed
Dennis doesn't post here anymore. He is regularly over on difflock.com FWIW, he is always a gentleman when I need anything from him. Nothing but good stuff and always helpful on the phone. So, another plug for Linden Engineering from Iowa.

Parts
Scott gets all of my parts requests at this point and he has sold me I think 3 hydraulics winches and at least 2 or 3 electrics not to mention Pinz and Unimog parts. Nothing but good stuff with good service to boot and very responsive. SAV is fine but the girls don't know much if you need to ask que...

Pinz
The Pinz has the tightest turning radius of pretty much anything else there is. A 712 is very capable and these guys are probably trying to avoid being shown up would be my guess at this point. I think you should do some research on the Pinz capability and then decide what you are comfortable with. ...

Safety
It can't be legal in the states I wouldn't think. What's the GVW? Even the trailer looks like 2 3500 pound axles. I am sure you had no trailer brakes either. I am glad you didn't kill anyone. You should really think about how you would feel if some one killed your wife or child pulling that thing on...
