Re: I'm not thinking Arby's, I'm thinking G-Wagen...

Thanks for the heads up but that one looks like an automatic and doesn't have the fold down windshield but it's a clean looking example for sure...subject to a real inspection of course!

Re: Pinz owners in San Diego...I've got a new owner for you!

That looks like a perfectly acceptable new home for the white 712. Let's hope that Graham "Basher" Downes enjoyed it while he had it... Now that I know you're a G-Wagen owner too, you may be hearing from me when I finally get around to pulling the trigger on one. Enjoy the white truck and ...

Re: Pinz owners in San Diego...I've got a new owner for you!

The white 712 has now changed hands since the tragic and obviously untimely death of "Basher", the fellow to whom I had sold it.

Jorgo - care to fill "the family" (AKA the forum folks) in on those details sir?

Re: Former military spec G-Wagens in Germany. What's the va

The friend's father in law stands corrected! I told him that, without question, former military spec G-Wagens were more in the 5,000 euro to 15,000 euro range and that those numbers were confirmed by both the individuals and the dealers with which I had spoken about these trucks. The father in law f...

That's my thinking as well and we've had that conversation off line too, right? Even if they're used by all or nearly all military programs in Europe, even beat to $hit, they're going to be more than $700 (US), right?!

Former military spec G-Wagens in Germany. What's the value?

A buddy of mine knows that I'm hot to trot to buy a former military G-Wagen (SWB, soft top etc). His wife is German and, in a recent conversation with his father in law, the father in law says these things are crazy cheap back in Germany. From my research, I suspect they're going to be roughly in th...

Re: Pinz owners in San Diego...I've got a new owner for you!

I heard about it over the weekend. I only spent one day with him when he came to town to learn about the Pinzgauer but he was obviously an extremely accomplished and successful guy. Very intense and driven. Was probably tons of fun to hang out with. No wife, no kids so I'll be curious to learn was c...

Re: Saw this Toyota LC FJ45 for sale

If you check my Facebook page, I posted several photos of a killer FJ 45 that I came across recently. Really neat truck but the single bench seat seemed completely impractical for my needs.

They ARE loud compared to "normal" vehicles. When I got my first one (a 710M) it reminded me of being in a helicopter! Vibration, noise, lots of gear noises...and both of mine have been exceptionally clean and well maintained. Even a perfect one (or nearly as mine have been) are intended f...

Re: Leather Steering Wheel Cover

I had one of those but I felt like it was just too big and thick. The alternative was easy...

Go to a bike (bicycle, not motorcycle) shop and buy a package of black handlebar tape. Mine held up great for years and was a great improvement over the stock wheel. Cheap too!

Re: Has anyone imported a vehicle and how was the money tran

Lots of good comments here. I've been investigating dealers in The Netherlands, Belgium and Poland for the G-Wagen I'd like to acquire. My first thought is to find one of "us" from the forum who can be your eyes and ears on the ground to facilitate the transaction. If that's not an option,...

Re: I'm not thinking Arby's, I'm thinking G-Wagen...

My Land Cruiser requirements are considerably more pedestrian that that! I'm thinking first car for teen age sons. So it's looking more like 10+ year old LC or perhaps 4Runners as an alternative.

Thanks for the comments but let's not side track the G-Wagen discussion.

Re: Most confusing winch bumper design so far

I saw that truck at Thilo's a number of years ago and it didn't have that item at the time. The subsequent owner has introduced himself here on the forum since then so perhaps he (or she) will weigh in with some of the details on that.

We exchanged emails and my recollection was that he had a limited stock and nothing that met my criteria (age, body style etc).
