Re: 24V to 12V Converter - Lifespan?
I haven't posted here for quite a while, after getting smoked for giving a heads up on the availability of Pinz 718's on Government Liquidations. However, the question is worthy of a good answer. I've had a 24 to 12 volt converter in my 712 Pins for the last 10-years. I installed it immediately belo...

Is there a substitute for Pinzgauer part 710.3.32.297.0, also being Bosch part 0343102007?

Re: In snow, chains, how necessary on 712?
The coefficient of sliding friction is much less than the coefficient of rolling friction. Don't use the lockers unless you are getting wheel spin. We found this out in the late sixties when positrack differentials came out for both front and rear axles. I lived in Bridgeport, CA (elevation 6468) an...

Re: 6m/m Brake Line & Fittings
Thanks for the suggestion. I called Fedhill, they only had 6 m/m nuts, no tube and most imprtantly no couplings.

6m/m Brake Line & Fittings
Has anyone found a supplier of 6m/m brake line & fittings? I need a nut, Short piece of line and a coupler. Local and on-line suppliers want to sell 1/4" line and fittings and have me convert everything.

Re: Transfer Case - Jumps Out of Gear
Jim, Thanks for the " good news", better to know than to guess. The previous (and only time) I opened the transfer case troubleshooting the jumping out of gear problem I replaced the "SLIDE PIECE SHIFT FORK". The problem disappeared and I figured I had whipped it. While I had the...

Transfer Case - Jumps Out of Gear
After about 40 miles of driving my 712's transfer case jumps out of high range to neutral, especially when driving at a constant speed and load. It goes back into gear but typically will jump back out within a few miles. I've checked to shift lever clearance per the manual and it's within limits. Th...

Boring cylinders
Had a valve drop into the #3 cylinder. Had to bore out cylinder #3 to 93.00 mm before it cleaned up. Is it necessary to bore out the other cyliners to match? They are in the 92.20 to 92.31 mm range and I am considering boring them out to 92.50mm and replacing the pistons.

Back-up Light Switch Installation
Bought the parts for a back-up light switch. Proceeded with installation. Removed the 900.1985 plug (index 2-01-23) and found contact bolt, part 710.1.21539.1 (index 2-01-17). This part has a 4.0 mm diameter pin that projects 9.0 mm from the body of the contact bolt. I discovered the circlip loose o...

Rear locker not working
If nothing else pull the panel in front of the locker levers and top off the reservoir(s). If that dosen't work bleed the locker circuit, if you haven't done it before you will be amazed at the crap in the lines. I had to purge the lockers on my 712 when I pulled the rear tandems to get at the trans...

Transfer Case
Transfer case popped out of high range to neutral in my 712 M on Cajon Pass on my way up tp Brigeport CA 4th of July. Would only go into low range. Continued to top of pass and got a haul back to Oceanside. Pulled it into my shop and drained the transfer case - no chips or pieces/parts. Read through...
