All factory fording depths are pretty conservative. The pinz does not need plugs or breathers to wade and the electricals are about as good as they get for going into water. I haven't, but know many who have waded in water with it around their legs while in the truck!! Profpinz has drowned his and h...

The Pinz is pure engineering, to make a replica you'd have to make it like real which would cost 10 times the price of a used one!! I know some people who have put a TD nose cone on a 710 if that's the sort of thing that counts! If you want to make something eye catching then mock up a tank or somet...

I always find that if you have a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, tow rope... you never need them. Not having them and sure you'll wish you had them! I think its called 'sods law'.

Fuel safety

While playing around with the fuel tank / fuel hoses make sure you are not carrying a static electric charge and keep a fire extinguisher on hand!

These folk (Peter Baxter, Gregor McKenzie & Ian McKenzie) Trade under many names C.U.V, Shropshire Gunbus and Mountain and Safari. They also put private adds on ebay from time to time. I have not dealt with them and their diesel conversion and fiberglass hard tops look really interesting. I am a...

Hours can't be right as the truck would have had to averaged 85 kmph while in use, and is more likely being a K to have stood ideling for a while.

Yes the slightly lower of the top two is what they call the 'control' fill until oil comes out this. Remember take the fill plug out first then control last drain, in case any are stuck!!

Cab heater

There has been a lot posted about the standard Eberspacher petrol cab heater. I think to sum up: They are 30+ years old and if not working properly can be dangerous and cause a fire. They are not worth repairing. However if in good working order, used while truck is stationary and with someone in at...

Mine has similar surface corrosion (very slight) less than a year after repainting. Not sure about the paint being IRR but it was proper military stuff. I have sprayed the area with light oil until I can sort it properly.[/i]

Pinzgauer America

Wow I had never seen the Pinzgauer America! Did any of these vehicles ever get built? Disk brakes! Were these from the later TD? No side rubbing rail, but wheel arch extensions and fat tyres! The inside also looks more luxury than even euro civvi pinz. That front grill is unique too. Now my pinz is ...

Wow I must be really lucky and have a quiet truck, I can chat with my passenger at most any speed on road and off-road I can sneak up on people without them hearing!

Mine 'smokes' at least as much as that. I was very worried as it idled away before its emissions test filling the garage with smoke... turns out its mostly steam on a cold day and passed its emissions with flying colours!
