Re: What was your longest trip in your pinz?

roughly 3000 miles will be a LONG trip in a Pinz at 60 MPH. Make sure you bring an IPOD, Motrin and earplugs.

Re: Gear Whine

If you'd like, you could bring it up to Ramona to my shop and I could take a listen for you. Pinzgauers are loud at speed, many of us use earplugs on longer rides

Re: 2011 Mogfest, Oct 21 - 23

I've gone to Mogfest in five different vehicles; 3 different 712 Pinzgauers, 1 710M Pinzgauer, and lastly, a Chevrolet Blazer. You'll be welcomed, but make sure that your buddy's vehicles are capable enough to hang. The only issue that your friends will have is possibly being heckled/ teased a bit i...

Pinzgauer overheating on The Unit

I think I saw some posts on this at one time, but it was pretty funny anyway. I just started watching "The Unit" which is now on reruns on UNVHD. There is an episode I watched yesterday where the team is in Iran and they use a Pinzgauer 710M for transport. On the way to their objective, th...

How to paint wheels with tires mounted

Since I sell a bunch of cars (sometimes) I occasionally have to paint rims that are scraped, rusted, funny looking, etc. Usually this is a real pain in the rear end since trying to get masking tape to stick to a tire can be an exercise in frustration. Most of the time, I'll make a cardboard template...

Re: 2011 Mogfest, Oct 21 - 23

For those that schedule everything months in advance, Mogfest is set for October 21st to 23rd. The location has yet to be determined, but should be set by May 1st. The site will more than likely be primitive camping, though nothing has been ruled out. Who is in charge of choosing the location? We m...

Re: Offroading in California any good spots?

Well, I have some mixed news. I was working on getting us access to Los Coyotes Indian reservation in Warner Springs. Los Coyotes has some of the best wheeling south of the Rubicon, but was closed down to 4 wheeling about 7 years ago due to abuse of the land. A few months, the Tierra del Sol off roa...

Hi, both Swiss Army Vehicles and Expedition Imports are reputable dealers. As you are located in SoCal, you might want to speak to Scott at Expedition Imports as he is much closer. (located in Vallejo, CA) Not to mention, Expedition Imports is also a forum sponsor.

Re: Tierra del Sol

Michael, That is interesting since I have not seen a jeep with 14 inch clearance that could compare with or without 35 inch tyres. Exactly. It took the Pres of TDS at the time to give us the OK to go. Pretty funny actually, we spent about a half hour behind a bunch of Jeeps getting stuck up a large...

Went to TDS a few years back with my Pinz; was like being a rock star. On Sunday they held what was called the "Rough Run" and I had to get a special dispensation to take the 710 on the run since it didn't have 35" tires. Be prepared for huge crowds and noise all night long. It...

A while back this subject came up regarding using rubber for the rub rails. I believe (I've been wrong before) that the general consensus was that it was a bad idea as the rail would grab obstacles instead of grinding through them.

I'm working on getting access to one of the best areas in Southern Cali. I kind of have to keep it under wraps for now so as not to screw it up.

I'll let you guys know if it happens.
